"Biggs, who earns £55,000 a year as an electricial engineer, turned himself in to police following publicity. He made the phone call to cops and they arrived at his home at 3.30am in the morning."

Miss Gowans, mitigating, said Biggs has been a Nottingham Forest fan since he was five or six years old, "since he was a child". He has followed the team both home and away.

He drank with friends at a West Bridgford pub before the crunch match. "Emotions were high, as you know. The match was won on penalties after Sheffield United took it to extra time," said Miss Gowans.

He accepted he should not have gone on to the pitch.

The judge heard Biggs got, carried away in the moment as did thousands of fans who were there".

He followed his friends,, added Miss Gowans. His intention was to get to the tunnel where he saw three Forest players and he was focusing on them.

He remembers running towards the players to the left of Billy Sharp, to where the tunnel is".

His head has collided with the right side of the player's cheek". Miss Gowans stressed it was not "targeted on the player".

Very light sentence

Please don’t describe him as a Forest fan, doubt he will get to see a game at the WFCG, again. He will surely receive a life time ban, the least he deserves.

Silly man. When I saw it online it looked to me as though he deliberately went for Sharp. His criminal record will affect the rest of his life.

On another note, I'll be cheering your lot on at Wembley.

He has been banned by Forest, so he will have to goto the sheep. That's a very heavy sentence and one the idiot deserves.

He's from Ilkeston, that explains it.

The JustGiving page set up by Zoe Potts in condemnation of Biggs' actions has now exceeded £14K.

The funds will go to Martin House, which is a charity proposed by Billy. At least some good out of this.

I hate the idea that people around the country will not this that this utter moron represents the Forest fan base. What and absolute tool he must be.

All credit to Billy and his comments on the incident.

On the other hand very disappointing to see that the SUTD manager did not apologise for his actions towards Spence.

Yes I found Ecking-mouths post match holier than thou comments cringe worthy.

Any manager on the touchline getting into a confrontation with an opposing player should get a straight red in future.

Anybody seen the Brewster / McBurnie incident.

Not sure what the Forest fan was doing, but Brewster throws him to the ground (by his neck) and the supposed injured McBurnie, running and then stamping on him.

It’s clear to see by his expression, movement and stamp (arms out to balance), that it was intentional.

He’s got previous...so undoubtedly has a great lawyer.

From Sky Sports:

A member of Sheffield United's staff, assistant kit man Adam Geelan, gave his version of events on Twitter, saying: "Fan illegally enters the pitch provokes and tries to push Rian (Brewster) he [sic] defends himself and the kid falls on Oli's broken foot can clearly see there's no stamp, ridiculous post especially when stewards and police were stood there watching it happen and was left to ourselves [sic] to defend."

This tweet was 'liked' by McBurnie.
