Agree in principle with the sentiments but totally impractical. Some 10-15,000 fans on the pitch at Goodison last night, and I sorta get why the celebrated the way they did, particularly looking like going down at 1/2 time then turning it around
The only way to stop mass invasions would be the return of the dreaded fencing and that ain’t never going to happen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lifetime bans would 100 per cent stop it. Who is going to risk not being ever allowed into a football ground again? It is an absolute fulproof way of stopping it overnight. You don't need fences.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But how do you police/enforce life time bans Sandy???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very easy. Most supporters have to be at least members these days to gain entry to grounds. If supporters find a way around it, then if caught, immediate prison sentence.
There are plenty of ways of enforcing it. Just the same way as other law breakers are forced into similar actions.

Life time ban? Fecking hell Sandy you old duffer that’s well over the top. I bet you think people should be locked up for life for nicking sweets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nip it in the bud mate. I am old enough to have seen the first acts of hooliganism in the mid to late 1960s. That was allowed to escalate to almost uncontrollable acts of violence that included murder.
Do we really want to go back to those dark days?
Life bans too hard to enforce.
Fencing just not happening.
Fines or even jail time won't stop the mob mentality.
Much easier option is set points deductions for the club these morons support. And I don't mean in six months time after an extensive PL/FA revue of the incident. No, the next day. That is the only thing that would worry them.
Even with their limited intelligence, they would soon work out that THEY could get their club relegated all by themselves.
That would create the best type of management, with fellow supporters who do get the implications of points deductions, going out of their way to make sure the idiot in the next seat doesn't get on the pitch. Like a crowd enforcement scheme if you will.
Imagine how the Everton fans would feel now if they were told the day after the Palace win..,.. sorry guys, all that effort , and here is your 3 points deducted penalty. Oh and you are now back in the bottom three and no chance of getting the escape you thought you had.
Cloughie had the right idea, throw a few punches back at the mindless morons who invade the pitch
