Cooper's are only reliable CB. And he's getting up there in age. I hope the club realize Llorente's a liability? We
need a really solid CB with Prem experience to partner
with Cooper. We then have Struijk to back up Coops.
And Koch to back up new CB.
I hope we go for Aaron Hickey, LB at Bologna.
Or have a cheeky bid for Tsimikas at Liverpool.

When you say statistically he's not as good as some fans think, what statistics are you talking about?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Faith has posted a link, but the gist is he’s made the most saves because he faced the most shots… same reason he conceded the most goals. There’s various ways you can spin it but our goals against compared to xg A is poor, which either means our opponents all had good days in front of goal, or he’dbe expected to have saved a few more. I’m not on his case - we were a lower half team with a very poor defensive record but his record on a keeper stats basis ( for what it is… and it’s obviously a guide nothing else) is also not great.
And I also would go for Pope. He's excellent. Easily
top 5 in the Prem. It might cost 30-40 mill but worth it.

I haven't seen those stats, I don't follow faith's posts.
We have conceded the most goals because we had a poor system ahead of him, I think we conceded something like 16 goals from corners, this should be a reflection of the defence not just the goalie.
I have bio worries with Meslier in goal and Klaessen as back up, my priorities would be elsewhere with the side.
Jonty… if you have faith blocked here was the link:

Here’s an article that ranks keepers (a few months old) and also explains the methodology of expected goals against.
https://the18.com/en/soccer-entertainment/epl-goalie-rankings-2020
Xg factors in the likelihood of scoring a chance, which also works in reverse… likelihood of missing or of it being saved.
It isn’t perfect obviously but it’s a guide and a much better one than number of saves made or number of saves made as a proportion of goals conceded as it factors in how difficult each chance was.
Fine you’re happy with meslier, it’s all opinions. I like him… I just think he’s a work in progress and I have some doubts about his distribution.
.... apologies first link is incorrect, should be:

Not Cornet….. so wasteful
How was he wasteful? 9 goals in 26 from the wing, for a terrible team.

We don’t need another winger…. people here seem to be suggesting him as a striker… for a striker he’d be too wasteful.
