Hope the FIA play hardball with Hamilton at Monaco over this piercing stuff
Pretty obvious that your new man at the FIA is trying to clamp down on areas around the rules where there is ambiguity after last years controversy
Might seem a bit petty, but clamping down on the piercings thing is as good a place as any to start and to send out a message to the drivers and teams that the FIA have been lenient on a number of things in the past……but now that most are calling for the regulations to be clear and concise to avoid a repeat of Abu Dhabi last year, with Hamilton and Mercedes at the forefront of that, then rules are rules and they should be followed
Can’t have it both ways….cant expect the FIA to bend the some rules for people when it suits yet lambast them for somewhat circumventing them in other areas…so I hope they stand firm on this
You haven't been following F1 long, have you?
I'll make the case for Mercedes...
Daft to rule out 8 times World Constructors Champions...Mercedes, especially given what we've seen in the previous race.
Mercedes have managed to more than half the gap to the front with the updates (eliminating the bouncing) at the weekend and unlocking some pace, more upgrades in the upcoming races.
They are a well-oiled phenomenal machine which solve problems rather quickly, as seen as recently last season when RedBull had a significant pace advantage and Mercedes were on the backfoot, managed to caught up emphatically, only an absurd farcical decision of a race director stopped Lewis from being 8 times world champion.
Back to the events of the previous race...
Let's not forget, George was superbly holding off a fast paced RedBull for a long period.
Lewis was matching and bettering the pace of the front-running cars from last place to 4th on essentially a two-stopper (who knows what position he would have finished on the alternative strategy had the puncture not happened).
Monaco next...Mercedes pace in sector 3 of the Spanish GP was the fastest - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTY4mEFXwAEn9QN.jpg, which tends to bode well for Monaco.
They might actually have the best suited car for this particular low-speed track. Their car is very good in low-speed corners. They've taken a huge step forward.
I'd be a little concerned...in RedBull & especially Ferrari position, if Mercedes manage to extract the full potential of the car (without reliability issues) this season.
George & particularly Lewis will be right there picking up wins, only a matter of time. Max & Charl wont be cleaning up, as long as those Mercedes pair are in the mix.
Never underestimate the ability of Vettel to sheitfest a win out of nothing. Every other car to explode and him to push his Aston over the finish line in Monaco (it hadn't broken down, it was just faster that way).
Leclerc just said he was 4 tenths faster as well and I saw he was 4 tenths up. That was gonna be one of the best laps in Monaco history until Perez crashed.
Binotto said he was 7 tenths up on his previous lap before red flag.
