A midfield trio of
Odegaard - Partey - De Jong
That's a midfield capable of challenging with the best
————-
Jesus
That’s not even better than west Hams midfield
To compete for titles we need at least 5-6 top signings and a new manager ffs
De Jong has looked mediocre for Barca and has never even played in the PL, seems to struggle in La liga but yeh of course he’ll instantly be the best midfielder in the PL if he joins arsenal
Partey, always injured and even when he plays is crap most of the time, bit like a poor man’s pogba
And Odegaard, another inconsistent one, way too lightweight to dominate teams only good on the counter and even then just isn’t that good
But yeh best midfield in the PL
Lol Fackin hell, can tell it’s platinum jubilee weekend
You also currently have no strikers and no decent defenders
Take your Arsenal hat off for a moment and if you were De Jong and you had the choice of these two where do you go ?
Not to mention United now have his previous manager in charge
Had you got champions league though it would have been a maybe
Bissouma will be a great signing for someone and maybe better than De Jong as at least he is tried and tested in the prem
I could see Bissouma at Arsenal to be honest and I won’t be happy with that
De Jong has the potential to be another Van De Beek

What a shat move for him if that’s the case ….he wouldn’t be out of place in the city midfield
He is like a one man midfield
Maybe he is looking for a clean break due to the court case (which I know nowt about so I’m not even gonna guess)

Yeah I imagine Bissouma's not attracting the interest you'd expect because of the off field stuff still going on. Can understand clubs steering clear for the time being although he'd likely be a brilliant signing if all went well.
He said Arsenal was one of the clubs he followed.
Could be a big coup for the gunners.

West Ham have an excellent midfield to be fair. It's a lot better than United's and arguably also ours in general but definitely when Partey is out injured.

Soucek Benrahma Rice is a very good midfield
If we can pay £50m for Ben White then we should not be haggling over the price for anyone. I find it staggering that Man City only paid a million more for Haaland. You couldnt make this stuff up

The Haaland transfer is an anomaly though. He only signed for Dortmund based on being able to move for a far lower than market value fee after a few years. Dortmund got an incredible player while Haaland and his agent almost guaranteed a monster contract at any club he wanted by limiting the potential transfer fee - the only thing clubs would be bidding against each other was wages
We paid a massive amount for Ben White but Haaland's fee is completely irrelevant to the usual market trends
Transfers = Fee + Wages + Bonuses + Agents
In my opinion De Jong is a bit of runner. Like Kalvin Phillips and he hasn't done all that well in a tiki taka style. If Arteta is trying to implement a style similar to one that City play I think Tielemans would be more appropriate.

Yes but people tend to fixate on the fee plus maybe the agents fees.
Either way though, City have got a bargain by any current measure unless Haaland ends up regressing or being a crock

Or is it that Edu is just completely useless and out of his.depth that he hasn't a clue what he's doing.
I think Haaland played it really well by only agreeing to sign a new contract if a lower fixed transfer fee clause was inserted. So that shifted the power to him a bit like a player who has wound down his contract.
Wolves are quoting Barca £100m for Neves to replace De Jong so shows what ridiculous prices are quoted by clubs whose players are wanted but on good length contracts.
West ham want £150m for Rice and Leeds want £75m for Phillips.
That's a midfield capable of challenging with the best.
Didn't a midfield of Odegaard, Elneny and Xhaka beat Chelsea?

We let arsenal beat us every year regardless who plays. Still doesn’t help you get anywhere.
We'll see next season. I am no Arteta apologist but even I recognise the team has progressed. And as the team matures I fully expect us to establish ourselves in and around the top 4 next season.
People often ignore how much styles are important to how a player performs in a team environment. Although fans tend to buy into brand names, it takes a team to be successful. Just look at how Salah and De Bruyne performed after leaving Chelsea to settle in environments that more suited their style as they developed.
Odegaard failed to convice Haaland to join Arsenal
