Another Ferrari powered car out
So basically merc are refusing to raise the floor to stop the bouncing/porposing due to losing lap time, then sorry u can't moan about your car bouncing if there is a solution
Well I’ve seen it all… Gaffer Tape, holding the car’s rear wing together… Tsunoda unlucky man.
This race has been so dull they didn’t bother show Max’s final lap… just him literally crossing the line
Meh still better than monaco
Ooh Perez sounds annoyed.
Good race by Hamilton and Vettel Gasly and Russell.
Dreary race, even as a Max fan I was disappointed to see Leclerc dnf, spoiled a half decent prospect. Merc pulling the 'first you have to finish' line time and time again.
Hamilton said: "I always want to get in the car. I just don't want bouncing."
He added: "I would do anything to avoid having that. (I am) worried for every time I am going to be back in the car."
Well clearly he wouldn't when he could just adjust the ride height, albeit sacrificing pace as a result - but he did say he'd do anything
I didnt get that either, he doesnt want to raise the floor, unless everybody else has to do it.
Mercedes cannot fix the issue, so no everyone else who has, has to change their set up. Typical.
Yup no sympathy here, they have a solution but rather their drivers are hurt then go slower, get the violin
What you anti-Lewis bridage fail to grasp is...in order to find solutions, the data race by race Mercedes are collecting from the bouncing is extremely helpful, so while there is a short-term pain, will work out to be gains in the longrun.
The team (or drivers) never would have envisaged the bouncing as bad as it was in the Baku race though, that was unprecedented levels of pain on the body.
Mercedes have highly intelligent personnel to eventually expunge the issue, which they thought they did on (a smooth track) in Barcelona, but problem now turns out to be track specific...the bumpier the track, the more bouncing incurs.
It's a big challenge for sure, uncharted territory in the hybrid error for them but If any team can find viable solutions I'd back 8 times world constructor champions over any other team on the grid! (There's fundamentally a fast front-leading car there, once issues are solved).
Moreover Lewis isn't the only driver complaining about the bouncing (based on safety grounds), all the drivers have been vocal about suffering from the bouncing in varying degrees (some more so, than others).
They've all made the case that the existing regs with the porpoising cannot be safe for much longer...will have damaging and lasting effect on their body and ability to drive. Or worse fatality.
FIA have a duty of care to the driver and will do something about it, in the end.
I'd like to see a return of the active suspension as one solution, but not to how it was in the 90s which gives big advantage to the teams (Ferrari, Mercedes, RedBull) with the greater resources.
Spec grade suspension maybe.
