I have absolutely no issues with someone who doesn’t rate De Jong, why would I. I also never delete comments purely because someone doesn’t have the same opinion as me, it’s what this place is for.

If FDJ is world class like so many of our fans are claiming, why are Barca selling him? Do you think if we bid for Pedri they’d talk to us about it or tell us to F off?
Trust me FDJ is a ghost in most games. I’ve seen him live enough times to pass judgement. He rarely influences a match and has underwhelmed in Spain.
Barca will have our pants down for a player who isn’t even that good, he’ll flop in England with his lack of physical presence.

I’ve said for quite some time that FDJ would be my ideal midfield signing for us, so I’ll be delighted if this happens. Brilliant technically and with his best years ahead of him. We’ve not had a playmaker of his sort of ilk since Carrick really.

Why exactly are Barca willing to let him move on?
Completely skint and the strongest area of their team, with their best youngsters in recent years coming through being CMs. Need to sell to buy.
A mix is being broke and him not exactly being a roaring success. They’ve seen us willing to shell out big bucks for someone who isn’t exactly pulling up trees but may just be able to bring back that potential as our manager knows him well

Most fans I’ve heard of them would not really be happy to see him go and think there are far more players in their squad they should be rid of first. But possibly not ones easy for the club to sell. Same as our situation probably (but without us needing the money to buy).

Besides the fact they need to cash in and don’t want to lose their la masia players?
Maybe they think they can cash in on a player who doesn’t want to be there, bit like why liverpools best player wants to leave right now.
Maybe he thinks ten Haag will play him in his preferred position/system like he said after the Holland game and is angling for the move?
Who knows.
Some people would ask why mane wants to leave Liverpool and why Liverpool are willing to sell him….is mane finished?
