Don't think Tuchel chooses either way though surely? Most clubs don't work like that anymore.

Yeah. Maybe. Not sure who’ll come in for Chelsea now. Sterling? Jesus?

He’s miles away from being considered a successful signing

That’s a nice way of calling him the worst transfer in premier league history.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, Grealish might well take that. Torres was shocking, Di Maria etc
Alexis Sanchez etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, not one of those are a patch on how bad lukaku is.

Robb having a cry because his comment was fecking ridiculous.
How can Lukaku not be the worst premier league transfer of all time? If he never plays for them again they'll have spent over £200m for him including wages and will be lucky to get what, a fifth of that back in return?
All for 8 premier league goals ffs, suggesting grealish is worse is mental

I dont think its player power - the bloke's just a massive phanny really, who wilts under pressure. Chelsea made a mistake getting him and they probably realise they'd be wise to get rid ASAP. An unhappy and demotivated Lukaku is an utterly useless player.
I suspect that is the last time one of Europe's elite is conned into paying big money for him though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'll score a ton of goals again, Newcastle might be his new childhood club next year.

"at least he isn’t content with sitting on the bench and getting paid to waste away like Hazard and Bale "
The Bale that has scored vital goals in 2 CL final wins and been part of one of the most successful periods at the most successful club in the world?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bale has been a very good signing for Real - I’ll be the first one to say that but he has phoned it in for them since 2018. Lukaku could easily have just chosen to stay at Chelsea and collect his salary but all parties accept it was a bad move and fair play, he’s decided to go elsewhere and not prolong the mistake longer than it could have been prolonged.
No one comes out of this looking good but it could be much worse
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be inclined to agree if Lukaku had made an honest effort to make it work rather than engineering his move away after a mere couple of months
One expensive oaf that's for sure.
Crazy almost £300mil has been spent on this guy going from one club to another and he can't trap a ball.
Lukaku's whole career is such a shame really, but it's kinda hard to feel too much sympathy cos it's mostly off the back of bad decisions.
Can't tell if he overthinks his way into bad decisions cos he's desperate to prove himself or he just doesn't think at all.
I can assure the OP im more annoyed about the whole thing
A grown man saying he got tricked by his agent is frankly pathetic

He is up himself and desperate to prove he's world class so has gone back to his happy place where he can score for fun.
That said there is no guarantee he will because his success at Inter was under Conte who plays differently to Inzagi, who is less defensive...so may be the fact he cannot trap a bag of wet sand will get highlighted again.
I thought the £8m was a good fee!
Doing business with Serie A clubs is risky business in general. It's not the strongest league right now, so looking like a superstar there is no guarantee of success elsewhere. Liverpool have shown in the past that it can be done but it's tricky.
And if a Serie A club wants one of your players, there isn't a huge amount of money in the league, so it tends to just be a dumping ground for unwanted players at a financial loss
Oh and I think it says a lot about Inter that they’ll take him back even though his attitude clearly stinks. I certainly wouldn’t have had him back.
——————
Yeah, people assume he’ll go back to his 20/21 inter form immediately, but without Conte he may not be as good. At which point he’ll blame everyone but himself and demand a move somewhere else next summer I guess. Dunno which bridges he won’t have burned at that point though

And then we buy Abraham back and he flops?
98m was a joke in the first place, their own fault, it's always a risk at that price.
Paying that sort of money for the services of a player, who ever that player is, is a sick waste of resources. Two good seasons in Italy is a poor marker.
Same with Pogba, joke of a player who can't cut it in the premier league.

Exactly. Immobile gets 20+ in the Italian league most seasons. He flopped in Germany and Spain and his strike rate for the national team is slightly better than 1 in 4.
You’ll find the odd gem there as Liverpool have with Salah and Alisson and Spurs look to have with Romero but overall it’s a poor standard league these days.

What's Chelsea's end game here though.
Is there any prospect of him being sold. A player in this situation is much better going on loan until their parent contract ends as they'll earn that full wage until then. Sanchez did it at united and while someone above classed the Italian league as a dumping ground for unwanted players, they view us as a source of cheap players whose wages will be partially covered.
Will Lukaku 'see out' his contract at CFC.
Shame really as we have probably the strongest link to Italy of all the PL clubs in terms of our historic players
We used to actually sign Italians tho
