Labour are bloody pathetic too, they are too afraid to take a position on anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Which, ironically, is the position of the GOP in the USA.

If the UK had came round to being duped by Brexit how the hell did the cretin win by such a huge majority.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because English people up north were thick enough to believe the rich elite toffs that Brexit was a working class project that would lift us all to sunny uplands.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plenty of Southerners, Welsh and Midlanders also voted for Brexit πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ - in fact the MAJORITY of the Country did πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Politics is at an all time low in this country, and we’ve got an electorate that just keeps voting to shoot itself in the foot. I’ve never been more disheartened at being a Brit.

I don't think they're all quite that thick. They just hate immugrunts more than they do the Tories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe not thick, just awful judges of character.

It was literally in response to that silly remark - everyone knows, that people from up and down the Country from different classes, races and social backgrounds voted for Brexit

If the Tories had their way they’d take us back to 1935.

Reality check

Tories have a 75 seat majority (for now)

They managed 5 years with the lib dems with less.

There's no way in hell they call any election before lare 2024.

Brexit is in the past.

The reality is 2024 and how someone else gets elected.

1. Labour have lost massively in Scotland since 2010. No Scottish seats = no majority. It will have to be a labour coalition amd it has to have snp in.

2. Tories will stoke project fear. Snp taking all the rich folks money amd the poor northerners social welfare.

3. Nobody will really separate war, brexit amd covid when 2024 comes about. That the past and decisions ought to be on the future

posted on 22/6/22

I'm not sure you can even call it democracy when the leave campaign were found to have broken electoral law can you?

Anyway, it's happened and in just over a decade of Tory rule the country is in the bin.

If only someone had said.

The majority of those who voted - it’s called democracy
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Conservatives did not win a majority of those who voted. What they got is called a 'plurality', i.e. less than half the votes but more than other individual parties.

Actually I don't think the UK (or even England, for all its deep delusions) is significantly more right-wing than many other comparable European countries. Our fatal flaws are the archaic political system that gives minorities total political power, and the stranglehold of non-dom plutocrats over our media and with it the framing of our political discourse.

posted on 22/6/22

If it was “literally in response to that silly remark” then that absolutely confirms idiocy on their parts, doesn’t it?

Sabotaging the economy, sabotaging their own incomes and financial futures, burning rights and protections, burning life opportunities, emaciating the UK on the international stage… all because somebody made a “silly remark” they didn’t like.

Now that really would be spectacularly dumb. Like world class, GOAT level dumb.

Again, it's not that simple.

The majority of people under 45 voted remain.
The majority of people working full time voted remain.
The majority of people with university education voted remain.

The country has been ruined by bad leadership which has, in turn, empowered the ignorant to become a powerful force in politics.

Nearly half (49%) of leave voters said the biggest single reason for wanting to leave the EU was “the principle that decisions about the UK should be taken in the UK”. One third (33%) said the main reason was that leaving “offered the best chance for the UK to regain control over immigration and its own borders.”

I think it's safe to say the main reasons for voting Brexit were either naivety (stupidity in a lot of cases but ok) that we'd just roll back the world to pre-globalization. Or barely disguised xenophobia (racist caants)

I think the article is accurate about the state we are in, and the reasons for it. And I don't think voting Labour is the total answer.
We need to choose a different voting system, there is more than one.

I will let Red Russian choose the best. He's intelligent, worked abroad ando is now in the UK. I'm old and live abroad so am not realistically involved.

Problem is that the two major parties don’t want to change the voting system.
