Selling de jong to skum and selling tv rights so they have raised some cash.
Do feel he will end up there as thats always been his preferred location, couldn't bear to see him at another English team
Need to move fast on replacement which I'm pretty sure we will
Surely they can pay more than 60m.
Soak they till they're broke again.
I'm concerned about Barcelona's ability to cough up the readies whatever they say.
Deco for me is today's equivalent of Bernie Mandic - a slithering, morally bereft money man. Rahpinha is being led by this toe-rag and I'm sick of the negative influence he has over the player. It appears that Deco, to use Cellino's terminology, is driving the bus and Raphinha is the passenger, when it should be the other way round.
No more of this stalling to give the skint Spaniards time. It's as if they want to buy a Ferrari when they can only afford a Range Rover.
If Raphinha goes to another PL club then so be it.
The important thing is that LUFC get the money upfront to re-invest. I just don't trust Barcelona who are guilty of serious financial recklessness and mismanagement over many years. I wouldn't deal with them full stop, but it seems Deco just won't let it go, constantly sucking up to his insolvent cronies.
Repulsive little weasel.
De Jong deal + investment = Possible Raphinha deal. He did actually agree personal terms with them, so might happen. 60m + a decent player would be good
You should be scouring their youth system and trying to pick up a player or two out of the deal
Batty makes a key point with his statement "Just get this done so we can sign players and move on."
With the pre season tour to Australia imminent on 9th July and players already back for pre-season it feels as if Barca and Deco(on Raph's behalf)have messed us about all summer with any funds from a deal playing a pivotal part in our remaining recruitment with potential incoming players, agents and deals in limbo until this is settled.
Never has the expression "show me the money" felt more apt in Barca and Rapha's case. They'll tried every trick in the book to get a low cost deal through. The longer it goes on, the longer we have to wait to conclude our remaining and vital recruitment business with that key pre season time to bed and gel in new players ebbing away.
Man Utd funding Barcelona's deal for Raphinha
I read that they are selling their merchandising rights for him up front to generate cash.
Effectively they’re buying him with a pile of his own shirts.
Barca will pay you in 37 installments for Raph and will still owe you money for about a decade after he retires.

Maybe not quite as long as that but it's a good point and I hope Radz doesn't get his pants pulled down by Barcelona on any potential deal with them... they've had their bit of micky taking with Firpo last year so minimum is £55 million up front like Chelsea are offering or forget it.

It will be most upfront like the Chelsea offer.
It's pretty much a take it or leave it scenario for Barca
Respect to you guys for standing firm tbh
I think its a bit dodgy from Barca to send multiple low ball offer to Leeds when you’ve told them already to match our bid
They have leverage with the player but its not like you guys need to care about that
Firstly, I dont necessarily blame Deco for this.
Club have been very open about wanting to develop and sell players.
Club have been very open that we're going to have to sell players to be sustainable.
Raphinha wants to move on, he's given us 2 good years, in fact great years in terms of his contribution and if I was he or the club, I would be expecting deco to be trying to get the best deal for all of us.
As for low ball offers, that's life, look at cantona.
As long as club hold out for money that they feel is right AND they use that money wisely for benefit of the club that's ok with me.
I will miss a talent like Raphinha same as I missed talent like Kewell or Yeboah, but we'll get them again and will be sooner rather than later if our Director of Football can get it right, that really is the biggest factor.
Whatever club he joins I just hope we can conclude the transfer quickly. Its already gone on too long. Just want him gone so we can the players in we need quickly.
Evidently deal agreed at £60m over three instalments. Raph gets £6m a year.
He only wanted Barca so it’s player power that wins. I guess we could have said no but do we really want to keep a player who wants to go?
Chelsea was upfront. Happy he’s not going there though.
I hope Radz has a water tight clause in the Raphina sale agreement that if Barcelona default on any of their payments to us there are significant penalties, charges that UEFA/FIFA also authorise.
I am extremely wary of this club and their practices but as long as we get the full fee with no hitches then at least we can move on now.
Barca suck. Hope those three installments aren't
over a 20 year period. And I hope the first installment
is 40+ mill. Otherwise they robbed us.
Sickened by this deal. Tonight we stand £40 million short on securing a replacement if the reports are true about 3 instalments of £20 million over 3 years.
The seeds for this fiasco were sown earlier in the season when that POS Deco negotiated personal terms with Barcelona for Raphinha to agree to.
I ask the question again - is this even legal when a player is under contract to another club and that club has not given permission for any third party agreements, especially as no transfer fee had been discussed or agreed between the two clubs? We don't even know if those negotiations between Deco and Barcelona happened during the window or after it closed, though that might be irrelevant.
I might be speaking out of turn because I don't know how the system works, and what is, and is not allowed.
What I do know is that this whole affair has been conducted with no honour or integrity whatsoever by either player or agent. Raphinha should have been focusing his energy on playing football for LUFC rather than casting his eyes on, and being actively involved in, his next career move mid-season.
This leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and for me, sullies Raphinha's short legacy at LUFC. Refusing to entertain any transfer other than one to a bankrupt club means that Radz and co had little choice but to allow this deal to happen, the alternative being to have a potentially disruptive player stuck at Leeds because he couldn't get his way.
I stand by my statement in another article - Barcelona should be liquidated, and not scouring the market for multi-million pound players they don't have money to pay for. Debt is debt but £1billion is stupefying.
I just hope they don't fail to pay up the remaining instalments.
Good riddance to the lot of them.

No Wakey, I'm sure we're not. Nor do I begrudge Raphinha a move to a club of his choice. My beef is that we've been cornered in to dealing with a club in serious debt. It's been reported that Chelsea and Arsenal offered the full fee up front. Allegedly Barcelona raised enough cash from selling a percentage of their TV rights to cover the full asking price and a lot more besides, but here we are going soft on them. They're sniffing after Lewandowski too. They'll wind up owing money all over the place with a promise to pay later. Given their dire financial straits, it just makes me very wary and nervous. But that's just my nature. Let's hope there aren't any problems further down the line.

Latest reports saying we're playing hard ball-lite with
Barca. The skint barstewards have offered less than
Chelsea, and over three installments. That bit is
apparently true (fck that BTW). The gaul.
Seems though Orta may have grown a pair recently.
He/club are insisting if the skint shysters want Raph
so bad, then they have to increase their offer above
Chelsea's - if they want to keep it at 3 installments.
No sh1. T sherlock.
Frankly, I'd force the Chelsea move or let Raph sulk
on our bench for the remainder of his contract. He's
now complicit in this attempted daylight robbery.
Raph's not coming out of this with his reputation in
tact. Not that he seems to care.
I think Elland has been saying for a while now,
how can a club a billion in debt, negotiate behind our
backs (thanks Deco you prck), and force the issue,
turn Raph's head, screw us over, and not have UEFA
looking into their conduct? I guess the skint fckers
(like Everton) can do whatever the fck they want.
Chelsea's offer is 60 mill upfront for fck's sake.
In any normal parallel universe this deal would be
done and so would our recruitment re replacements.
