Reading that really hits home what a terrible disease cancer is, at the start of the year everything seemed normal for him and his family.
Aye, really sad news that. Thought he might get a few more months after the news broke recently. Same age as me. Met him briefly once at the Euro 92 finals in Sweden, when he bought me a pint in a nightclub in Norrkoping after we’d humped the CIS 3-0 in our final group game. RIP to one of the game’s real characters, and a fantastic keeper.
Sad news. Stayed up my way ( Carluke ) for a bit. Seen him regularly in the bookies, walking down to train station all suited up back and for it.
Sad news, met once at a hotel I worked at, very funny guy and genuine person
RIP keeper
Andy was a good friend of my wee cousin after he took over the Quarry bar,he also looked after my boy when he was up from Essex for the football,we have framed pics of the 3 of them on our wall, told the story on here before about me texting my lad like I done everytime he was away up the road to see the Bears!
This one particular time there was no reply to a few texts so I end up phoning him worried a tad. Andy picks up his phone..hello whos this its Stu,s da is he there with Garry or what I,ve no heard fae him and sent him a few texts with no reply!
Yer boys fine said Andy,me,your cousin and yer boy had a whisky drinking compitition & your boy lost,he,s upstairs (some gaff above the pub ) sleeping it off haha!
There,s a good few more stories but they,ll keep for another day. Cancer is a cxxt of a disease and just shows you how quick it can spread and eat your insides up in a flash.
God bless you Andy and may you sleep well! Rest in peace "The Goalie"
Legend.
Totally tragic for him, his family and lived ones
Howdy mighty👍
Nice touch wi OP...he was same age as me FFS.

One in two get cancer apparently.
My sister had a scare at same time sis in law was diagnosed, but my sister swerved it and it was linked to her kidney issues and a viral
infection.

Hurricane Higgins did similar around Belfast bars when he had the cancer, playing snooker-pool for a fiver a game or drinks, especially around his old Sandy Row and Donegal stomping ground.
I was sat in a bar and saw Higgy cross the road towards us, and he just looked like a skeleton....cancer is a bastirt.
