FDJ or Neves should have been done by now, as well as Martinez. It's a shambles we are going on tour and the rest of the senior players have returned to pre-season and we still are missing 2-3 players who are meant to be part of the new spine.

We are talking about him because he is so high profile that if ETH doesn't play him, then there will be a massive media circus around it. And because Ronaldo is in the bottom 1% in Europe for pressing. And because he is the man that leads the line and sets the press. If he doesn't press then the rest of the team is wasting its time and energy.

We are talking about him because he is so high profile that if ETH doesn't play him, then there will be a massive media circus around it. And because Ronaldo is in the bottom 1% in Europe for pressing. And because he is the man that leads the line and sets the press. If he doesn't press then the rest of the team is wasting its time and energy.
If ETH can't coach and get Martial, Rashford etc. pressing then he will have to deal with that when it happens. But he can drop them without it becoming a major story. At his age, Ronaldo isn't going to be able to change his game now.

It was the idea that a new manager that hasn't even overseen a game and who is still assessing his squad and youth setup would demand 10 new signings. What a whopper.

Ronaldo situation is a strange one. Why didn't he come out sooner to tell the club he wants out, so they could plan ahead. Not that they would be able to close a replacement in time anyway. But at least it wouldn't have left a bad taste.

It could be that ETH has told him that he isn't going to be first choice for him. I don't see how ETH can be expected to find a place for him in his team/system when he doesn't press. Especially when he only has a year on his contract. Timings would suggest that his request to leave may be as a result of having a sit down with ETH and discussing his position within the team/squad.
