Chelsea in for De Jong

Maybe we should pay off the 17 million owed De Jong?

I wouldn't be too concerned. All the rumours I'm reading suggest a players plus cash offer. Barca will surely be looking for straight cash

I'm satisfied it's not us stalling this De Jong deal to be fair. Barca's financial issue with the player shouldn't be for us to worry about. If De Jong now chooses Chelsea then it's for the best we did wait.

I'm actually pretty confident De Jong will be a Utd player by the end of the window.

We're doooomed.

FFS, we hijacked the signing of Malacia last week... This happens in football. It could also just be a load of BS... save your river of tears for when a deal is done (or isn't).

There’s more important things to worry about than this. Lighten up

Why De Jonhg would want join Chelsea when can join Manchester United?

Barcelona are willing to pay Frenkie de Jong back just £3m in deferred wages and have asked him to forgo the rest in a bid to see his move to Manchester United go through.

As a reminder, he is owed close to £17m in deferred wages.

What a shambles Barca are

The club should have moved on from this transfer saga a long time ago, but now Barcelona know that we are desperate. No wonder they are acting this way.

Perhaps we are OK with how things are progressing and we do have a very attainable 'fall back' option (that we are planning to sign De Jong or not).

Paying up what Barca want now would certainly not be the right way to play this.

to be fair the window has now been open for nearly a month.

we have brought in 1 player in a position we are quite well stocked in, its hardly been an impressive window so far.

im sure we will get the "dont panic, plenty of time left" comments but i said before the window IMO without CL football we needed to get our signings in, done and dusted, because if a team who can offer the CL comes in for the same player it could cause issues.

FDJ is becoming this seasons Fabregas.

how long does it take to come to an agreement with a club and a player??
should certainly not be the 6 weeks at least that this has taken.

If BArcelona arent prepared to drop the price and we arent prepared to meet theirs, then move on.

if FDJ really doesnt want to come, feck him off and move on.

We were already playing catch up before haaland and philips went to city or before nunez went to Liverpool.

the fact we are going on tour with more problems and issues within the squad than what we had before the start of the window is piiiiiss poor

This.

If players don't really want to come then they are better off not doing so.

Doubt it, how does that change the £17m Barca owe FdJ? More likely Laporta trying to scare us into offering more money. United have done nothing wrong with this transfer, this is all Barca’s doing.

posted on 7/7/22

Also reports have stated that FdJ and EtH have been talking every day, hardly sounds like a player who has no desire to join us.

posted on 7/7/22

United should offer FDJ the remaining balance as bonuses if we win CL and PL. Unrealistic add-ons and bonuses are what we do best.

The way I see it is that if De Jong didn’t want to come we’d have moved on a long time ago.

You would hope that Frenkie has too much respect for Ten Hag not to play him.

He'd probably rather go to Chelsea though if they are offering.

Yep that's the problem that Dunc alluded to. Though in this instance, it doesn't appear to just be a case of United dithering, so much as being victims of the Barca shiiiitshow. If Chelsea are interested, I wish they'd moved sooner so United hadn't wasted so much time

Is he really that good anyway?

posted on 7/7/22

They'll be faux anger for a day until Ten Hag under instructions from the Glazers hints it was because of money and De Jong's a lack of desire to come, to which the gullible fanbase will fall for and then claim McTominay is better because he thumps the bagde when 5-0 down at home to Liverpool.

A free academy player will then be thrown in which will lead to fans who "want the Glazers out" celebrating the 390k the same people save in wages.

It's all so depressingly predictable at this point.

It's unlikely we'll do transfer business until the end of the tour now... Bigwigs will likely be travelling with the team.

FDJ aside.... We're really slow in a window we should have be very active in.

Martinez should have been a straightforward deal but we're haggling over 5 million euros... Leave that until the tour ends and he'll be at arsenal

We need a striker now too, no talk of a DM target... Not even a rumour of an alternative to FDJ

Time left obviously... But it's not looking promising so far
