I had it, pretty mild (as in I wasn’t in hospital or on a ventilator) but still horrible!
The worst for me was the fatigue and woolly head which went on for about 4 weeks!
Long Covid must be fecking horrendous.

Out of interest, how much do lateral flow tests cost? I got some just before they stopped being free and have used them sparingly so I still have about four left. If they're only like £20 for seven tests I would consider buying some.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My local pharmacy sell them for £2.50 a test.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think it’s about £15 for a box of 7.
I stocked up, kept ordering off the NHS app or asking at my local chemists. Have about 5 boxes left.

It was like flu for me in April, in bed for 4 days. So… much… snot. Had a cough for about 2 months afterwards.
Smoke some weed and eat oranges. You will be fine in a few days.
I caught it for the first time about a month ago and barely noticed it. Just a bit of tiredness for a few days.
My wife got it pretty bad though; flu like synptoms, coughing for weeks etc.
Whatever's going around at the moment does seem to be catching up to all the people who have never had it before. Feel like a sitting duck...

I think everyone is getting it regardless if they’ve been vaccinated or not.

The vaccine is keeping most of us out of hospital though.
I tested positive yesterday. Second time this year.
Not as bad this time round but now i have 3 month old who also has it.
It sucks
A couple of small businesses here have had to close completely just as the tourist season is really ramping up: it’s rampaging through the village.
Hospitalisations up here, too. I wonder if there are some new more vaccine resistant strains emerging
It’s not that bad. Had the OG Covid before vaccines, felt like a bad hangover on day one but afterwards was fine. Got Delta shortly after the vaccine and didn’t really have any symptoms apart from fatigue and a crap taste in my mouth for a few days. The worst for me was the first time I got Omicron. Was confined to my bed for 2 days with fever like symptoms. The cough didn’t come until a week later when I had felt better. Was annoying tho as I tested positive for like 10 days even though I felt fine, couldn’t go back to work.

It was a cold for me unvaccinated and it was a cold for me the second time vaccinated. Appreciate it will be different for everyone, but right now the population average severity is slightly less than seasonal flu (0.03% infection fatality rate compared to 0.04%).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s due to vaccination and booster levels though, isn’t it.
Had it back inn January but only felt poorly for 24 hours thankfully. Regarding work we are told to stay home and wfh if possible

I don’t think it’s a case of vaccine resistant strains emerging but could be
Think it’s more a case of everyone has forgotten about it and not being as cautious as they were
This wave I think will be the worse for how many have it but thankfully the strains seem to be becoming less serious for most people
The winter is going to be an eye opener as at least last year everyone seemed to be more careful

It’s winter here and Covid is sweeping through the community. Some are calling for mandates and lockdowns but there isn’t really a will from the local and national government for any more lockdowns. Which is a shame but all I can do is mask up and look after myself and others. It’s a very dangerous moment in the pandemic as a large amount of people have run out of sympathy and think they’ve done enough for the world and will never inconvenience themselves again.

What a cvnt you seem to think these things are cost free. Children will pay the price for generations to come, before vaccines this huge cost was arguably worth it, but now that it is on average less severe than seasonal flu, it is inexcusable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s fun when people make up quotes and use that as a way to be outraged. Where did I say it was cost free?
I’m aware lockdowns come with a cost but if this thing mutates which is always possible then people will needlessly die. That’s more important than kids missing out on school.

That's exactly what this new ba5 sub variant does. And its fuelling a 7th wave here.

It's been mutating forever mate that's kind of how they survive. The jump to Omicron was a massive change in terms of immune evasion yet severe disease protection is pretty much perfectly intact from some now very outdated vaccines (and previous infection regardless of which variant). And no when the death rate is as low as 0.03% children missing school and social contact is a much greater net negative.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Viruses don’t always mutate into ‘safer’ outbreaks. When it’s running wild like it is there’s always the risk it can become very serious. And thus why I’m talking about it being a shame the will for lockdowns isn’t there. I’m not for one second saying everyone should lockdown now - just that if it did mutate into something akin to what we saw in 2020 (which is very possible) and a lockdown was needed a large amount of society would refuse and we’d be screwed as there seems to only be so much collective responsibility available in society. There will be future pandemics and with how so many Karen’s have behaved over the past couple of years I worry about how the word ‘freedom’ has been bastardised to the point we just won’t see any more lockdowns ever again which would be a bad thing for humanity
