Ben Brerton Diaz I am guessing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sticking with the same issue I have right now. Journalists have placed all of the new signings staright into the starting XI; that mean half of the outfield XI with zero experience playing in perhaps the toughest league in the world.
So far, the club hasn’t brought in one single player with experience of English football. For me, that is a huge concern and a major error of judgement. I hope I’m proved wrong:
Remember that on against Blackpool, we only saw Tyler Adams of that group.
So for that reason, I think BBD would be a wise addition. My preference would be for an English player for sure.
The greatest benefit will be the permitting of 5 substitutes, allowing Jesse to change things around if things really aren’t working out during a game; especially at the start of the season.
Personally; I still think the youngsters have a lot to offer than Marsch, and more especially the journaliats, seem to be giving them credit for.
Why? indifferent towards the end of last season.

Never seen Ben Brereton play, numbers look good, right age for us…£20m seems steep for a player in the last year of his contract.

On that basis we would never have bought Raphinha.
We have experience of Premier League in squad. Yes, it would be nice to buy ‘top’ players with PL experience but we can’t afford them.
When will people realise its gonna take 10 years + before we have a chance for regular top 10, and then be able to attract such players… and perhaps longer for top 6.
The top echelon have stitched up the market/league over last 15 years and even those who’ve been in the EPL for ‘ever’ (like Everton) still can’t break in there.
So our only route for improvement is through these risks. No choice. 30% might come good but 70% probably won’t. It’s the way it’s gonna be
Salonika has nailed it above on this one for all the reasons mentioned.
Not averse to someone like 'BBD' if we can't get CDK(abbreviations again eh)or the lad from PSG to mix things up a bit. Someone like that who could come in alongside Bamford and Joffy would improve our striking resources compared to last year even if he is not the big name we look to be chasing.
There's an argument for saying he would be akin to sort of forward types Sheffield United were signing two years ago quality wise like Brewster maybe but overall wouldn't have any complaints if he came in. Personally think though we will get the striker linked from PSG.
Brereton Diaz is a striker with one good season under his belt, and before that a remarkable subpar strike rate for a player at the Championship. On top of that, he's not really an out and out striker, preferring to play coming in from a wider position (I believe) which doesn't suit what we are doing.
This notion we should be going out of our way to sign players with experience is just silly. They cost more, are often less good, and offer less potential to grow and earn money from. There's a reason you don't tend to see deals between teams in the bottom half of the PL. It's not an effective or an efficient way of doing business.
20m for a player with no top flight experience, one good season, and a year left on his contract? Yeah, no thanks.

You're wrong Lubo, not one good season, half a good season, got off to a stormer then faded a bit hence his reduced asking price.
On your point on experience, Rod has lots of experience yet has failed to set the world alight.

Els is correct, it was half a good (very good actually) season. He is happy playing anywhere across a front 3 so brings some flexibility and some height. His price is driven by the fact he was out of contract this summer and Blackburn took up a 12 month extension option. So effectively 1 year left.
There are plenty of high scoring championship strikers who’ve gone on to a job at PL level and I haven’t watched loads of him but have to admit he doesn’t float my boat from an eye test perspective when I have seen him.

On what basis? If you read again, you will see I mentioned 5 players with no experience starting a Premier League game, you mention one.
No one’s said anything about not seeing that it can takes several years to establish, least of all me. I’m just not sure why people never read posts properly. As for “stitching up”, Salonika, this takes place in almost every domestic league in the world, even where I am here in CR.
Sorry, but some things are not a risk worth taking. IMHO I would rather some of these talented kids who understand the rigors of English football than players barely much older from inferior Leagues. The overall aggregate quality of the 20 teams in the Premier League is clearly superior.
As I said, I want and will be happy to be wrong, but throwing so many outfield players without PL experience straight into the starting XI in 3 weeks time is playing with fire.
We have already seen once the danger of a poor start to a PL season.
I’ll come back in November.
You’re basing your panic on some journalists predictions though.
It’s up to the manager to manage and if he feels we need more experience to start with and ease some of the new lads in, he can. He can start Bamford, Harrison, James, Forshaw/Klich, Firpo, Cooper, Koch, Meslier. And just bring in Adams, Aaronson & Kristensen. Who are all players that have played under him and will know the system inside out anyway.
So far, the club hasn’t brought in one single player with experience of English football. For me, that is a huge concern and a major error of judgement.
