Really?! I'd always heard the L. Ron Hubbart (apart from being a loon for creating Scientology) was a pretty forgettable writer.

I think the LoTR movie did well because the book is considered on of the greatest fantasy books of all time isn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was young when I read it. But to me at the time I just couldn’t put it down. At 700 plus pages I got through it quite quickly.

And when I read it I was unaware of the Scientology stuff so had no preconceptions.

Internal Affairs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean Infernal Affairs? The movie The Departed is based on?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s good but I think he means the Andy Garcia and Richard Gere one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never heard of it. Or I’ve forgotten it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I mean the Garcia/Gere film. It's pretty good and one of Gere's best roles.

....or we should even.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Robb’s post, Robb’s rules… 😉
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No rules, but you can't have forgotten movies and pick Fight Club, it's like picking Shawshank Redemption or something.

Breakdown is another pick from me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It definitely isn’t. Look at the list of best ever cult movies. Fight Club will be in nearly all of them. As will Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My point is they are hardly forgotten films. By forgotten we are saying films that are largely overlooked. If they are coming top of lists they aren't so much overlooked.

I am going to play devils advocate here and say that I think Robb means that you don’t watch them any more or have not for a very long time by ‘forgotten’

posted on 18/7/22

I’m flexible like that lapdancer so I don’t mind. As long as they fall under the ‘cult’ category.

The Man with Two Brains is one of Steve Martin's lesser known films but IMO it's his best and funniest. Really zany.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i would say its one of his better know films.

Pointy Birds, and all that

I love Bowfinger. Very very underrated and an actual forgotten classic. One of Eddie Murphy’s best (dual) roles

Life was good too

I think that’s what it was called ….with Martin Lawrence

The Cotton Club.
Francis Ford Coppola film so maybe not so cultish, but there's stories if kidnapping, murder for hire and loads of intimidation amongst the producers. That would actually make a good movie.

Long good Friday is one of my all time favourite gangster films….Bob at his best

Gangster no 1 was good too ….Paul Bettany plays a great role as a nutter in it and there is one scene which is horrific but compelling watching
