Crawley (like Lees) has had a fair bit of luck but he's hit a half-century.

Can't help but feel the inevitable 10 wicket win here will do us more harm than good

This

Although maybe Baz was right all along. Crawley is actually playing a match-winning innings here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He just needs to do it more than once every 20 innings

Zak Crawley has registered a false shot percentage of 34% in this innings. He has never registered a higher false shot percentage in any Test innings in which he's faced 40 balls or more. #EngvSA

FFS even when he scores a 50 this happens

What a joke, just turn the facking lights on ffs

Who’s gonna trek down to the Oval in the morning to watch 20 minutes of batting. Even the Saffers probably would rather lose it tonight

Ridiculous

Basically a two day Test Match. I stopped watching when South Africa were six wickets down for a little over 30 runs.

Test Match Cricket as I know it is finished.

Agreed. One day stuff has all but ruined Test batsmen. Very few know how to dig in and construct long innings. You get a few crash, bang wallop Innings where a player posts a century of 90 balls or something like that, but in general most get out to ridiculous wafting of the bat stuff.

Great day of cricket. Shame there was such a lack of common sense to allow 20 more mins to finish the game. The light was fine.

Always a little sad when the final test of summer ends. Feels like the glorious summer we've had is coming to an end!

I thought it was the batters perogative to call bad light unless it was pitch black?

Indeed, it's been a nice distraction especially with it being such a successful summer. 6 wins out of 7 and its been thoroughly entertaining. Boycott style test cricket might be dead but Stokes has helped with our mentality to win games that we definitely would have lost several of under Root.

There's a tough winter ahead for so many of us and it is fast approaching.

They went by the light registered by the umpires the evening before...which was wrong then too...

Would say it's a combination of one day comps being where the money is but also the bowling is insanely good in the current era.

Pretty much every Test playing nation has 2 top class bowlers minimum.

I think you could argue 'twas ever thus' re two top class bowlers...every side you can recall has had a great pairing at most junctures

I'd still say as a collective it's a lot better now.

In comparison to the mid 2000s for example, NZ & WI were crap bowling wise, India couldn't produce a fast bowler to save their life, SL was basically the Murali show, we had good bowlers but nobody world class.
