Carlo Ancelotti

No way is Ancelotti the right man. I like the guy but you saw how he struggled with Chelsea last season. Unable to change tactics, drop players in poor form, pretty much devoid of ideas once Wilkins got the boot. I don't think he would be able to change much at the Emirates.

There aren't many Arsenal fans singing Arsene out (*cue rival fan "There aren't many Arsenal fans singing."*)

Ancelotti might steady the ship. But he's not going to win the league with a small budget against City, Chelsea and Utd, which is why we'll stick with Wenger.

Wenger might be inconsistent and stubborn, but he has at least shown potential to break the mold, and that's the kind of manager we need - someone who can win on a shoestring until we can renegotiate our sponsorship deals.

If he couldnt do it at Chelsea with all those millions, what chance has he got at Arsenal?
-------------------
Just winning the double in his first year and the second year was on his way to do it again until of-the-court issues stopped their momentum. Sure Arsene has done better??
Ancelotti would bring back respectability quickly believe me

Never rated Ancelotti. It's still incredible that Liverpool came back from 3-0 down at half-time against his AC side. He also froze when Mourinho was psychologising his Chelsea side in that CL tie.

We'd need a stronger character to take the reins.

Of the three English clubs mentioned, the most realistic chance he has at any of them would be Tottenham. And then, only if Redknapp is offered the England job and leaves.

I agree with some comments in here, Ancelotti double is more a results from Mourinho's team than his own success.
But the pressure is building up on Wenger (both from fan and the british media) and my worry is that one day he decide to give up and leave.

Redknapp won't get the England job. He has been crying for it for ages now and the FA still haven't give it to him.
They have probably their own reason.

I'm still unable to figure out Ancelotti..

On the plus side he won us the double in entertaining fashion. 103 goals scored in just his first season.

However, his second season with us was a shambles though and if you add to that, He never got us past the last 16 in the CL.

Also if you go further back in his Milan years, He won the Serie A once in 8 years but he did win the CL twice.

He's a likeable guy though. Man management skills are right up there with the best.

Make of that what you will.

Redknapp won't get the England job.

----

Sure he will. The FA have said the job is going to an Englishman after Capello and now that Stuart Pearce has ruled himself out of the position. Undoubtedly, Allardyce will do the same as he always does.

Who does that leave? Hodgson? Megson?

Whether or not he would do better than Wenger is doing, he did improve Chelsea leaps and bounds from the Scolari debacle, he would atleast get the Arsenal wingers defending properly

there is some sonfusion around that statement "the job will go to an Englishman". It has been since then changed to British coach which then open the door to many more...

I don't think Carlo is your man either but the comment about him inheriting a tme is a bit dismissive, he did inherit a team for sure but that team had not won the PL for three years.

posted on 4/10/11

He inherited that great team. Can you see him doing it with a poor Arsenal side? Doubt it.

That great hadn't won anything for 3 years

Carlo's a very odd one. It was a tale of 2 extremes under his management, when we good we were excellent, that 7-0 against Stoke was as good as I've ever seen us play, but on the opposite side of the spectrum when we were bad we were truly lamentable. What hurt about the Sunderland result last season was that if anything it flattered us

If you don;t rate Wenger's tactics, Carlo's are worse, stubborn as a mule, he will find a system and stick with it through thick and thin. I always felt in big games his tactics really lacked, outdone with remarkable ease in the CL on both occaisons

He was desperate to avoid any sort of confrontation, in or out of the team. He made some daft comments to the press last year (I;d take Rooney over Messi), and would not bench the under-performign stars however badly they were playing
