In;
- New LB - young to compete with/take over from Borna
- New first choice keeper - happy enough with McLaughlin but think we can do better
- New CF - quick, mobile, clever. Bit like Roofe in the 5 games a season he plays fully up to speed
- Midfield playmaker - Malmo probably cost us Veerman last season but I still think a really creative centre mid would take us up a notch
Forgot about Katic. Surely an English championship team will give us £1m for him?
In the last 6 months we have taken in circa £50m for 3 players who cost us less than £500k. Incredible business and that's before factoring in the on pitch value they added eg £20m+ by taking us to a Euro final.
I don't think we have been healthier financially for around 25 years or so. Important the club reinvests wisely which is looks like we are doing so far with the youth side.

agree with most of that. would like to see mccann go to a a top flight club. perhaps a st mirren as it keeps him local.

Agree I dont see any chance of another midfielder. We’re absolutely stacked their now with Tilman added, and both Hagi/Lowry to come back. Kamara was also excellent last night and no surprise to see him used in that more attacking cm role again last night, though thought he was better at cm and would start him over Jack. Would like to see both McCann and Lowry used this season.
Also don’t see any chance of another striker. Tilman also covers that position, was often used as a 9 at Bayern apparently. And as 4th choice, unless you sell Roofe, which surely won’t happen, can’t see any chance.

Sands will play more along the back line I reckon. He has looked better at CB than in midfield IMO, could also cover RB as can King.
Jack will only be available for half the games.

Realistically Helander, Roofe and Wright are never being cut.
And we may as well bin the academy if we loan out our best talents and shut the door to first team. Also makes a far less attractive team.

thats why i said in a prev post they need to be loaned out to top flight clubs up here. they need to play at this level if they cant cut it at lesser teams they prob aint gonna cut it with us.
cut the players that cant keep fit, we never see the best of them cos by the time they get there they get injured again. Cant rely on guys who cant stay fit. Id say cut Roofe, Colak as back up and lovelace/Sakala/Lawrence as 3rd choice striker.

Jack needs to play a decent run of games to get back up to full fitness. Unfort he might not get them at the moment. Reality is he isnt ever going to be the same player for us.
Agree on Sands - cool and composed on the ball but not very creative. Hes much more of a defender.
Would rather see Lowry stay if he can get say 10 starts and 15 - 20 games off the bench as Kents replacement.
We have a pretty decent squad to be fair. Just a bit big.
We aint the sorta team that we can afford to not put out our best team. With a strong celtic you cant afford to slip up any game and as good as some of the talent may turn out they are not as good as the senior level players right now. So I say let them play at this level for other teams if they show they can be relied upon at this level then there is far less risk when they come back.

Loaning them out (Lowry anyway) is a nonsense. And getting someone to take on and pick up an injured Roofe’s wages right now seems a pipe dream.
We’ve had two record sales in the last 6 months, one being an academy player the other being a player we signed without a first team game to his name.
Would be shocked if the board aren’t pushing for more youth to be given a chance given how well likes of Lowry and King have done in the chances they were given.

its not nonesense I gave very good reasons, you might not agree but it aint nonesense.
The reason we got mega money for Bassey is cos he got games he ended up playing a lot of games and its games these players need. they will get games at other teams and develop and we get to see them play at the exact level we will require them to. If they are a stand out you can bring them back after 6 months and integrate them after the winter break to boost the team if needs be,
Prepare to be shocked at the board then cos we have just signed 6 new senior players and sold or let go 3. So the board clearly aint "pushing" for anything and the further they stay away from football decisions the better IMO. let them run the business and let the football people run their side of things
I would expect we push for Katic and Simpson to move on. But Helander health might see one or both stay on to January. Sakala I think just isn't fancied by Gio whereas he has taken a little liking to Wright I think so I'd expect Sakala is likelier to be moved on.
Strikers I think we keep all until January simply as we will fit probably more games into August - November than we would normally expect.

yeah I agree Gio defo looks like he prefers Wright over Sakala. I agree we need striker depth but I would sell Roofe for one that is more available than not. Colak can be no 2 to Fredo. and a third who can cover injuries ideally if Roofe could stay fit he would be no2 or challenge for no 1 spot but he cant and never will and with the amount of games and the wages it just doesnt make sense. I like the look of Lovelace but even a proven domestic striker could fill in as 3rd choice.
We need to remember that Bassey only really got the game time he did last season because Helander was perma-injured and Balogoun was struggling with knocks.
He developed into an excellent CB because he go games there. He was well ropey first couple of games there and of course made the odd mistake or two but he settled down when he learned to head a ball properly.
Patterson only got a run in the first team because Tavs got injured.
The reality is it will take an injury to Kent for Lowry to get regular starts or an injury to about 6 midfielders for McCann to get regular game time next season.
What is regular game time though?
Rangers played 65 games or so last season, there are plenty of minutes to go round.
If Lowry, McCann and King feature around 15 times this season each it's great progress.

exactly .... hence why I say loan them out. Id even say look at loaning someone like Lowry to a hearts/hibs/aberdeen a bit of pressure on them to play well and pressure to get results.
other players like Mcann to St Mirrens like level. We need to get them playing at the level we play at.
Like I said if the are showing they are a level above that then you can end the deal 6 months in and they can strengthen the team. Young players can make rapid development at that age if they get a consistent run of games.
If they cant show the desire to prove themselves to show they should be playing for us or able to deal with the pressure of playing at this level then they will not cut it at rangers.

LB; Borna
Wide players; Wright Matondo Kent Lowry Sakala
CM; Jack Lundstrum Davis Kamara Arfield
Sands Lawrence Tillman McCann
Strikers; Morelos Roofe Colak
----------------------------------------------------------------------
from that list, cut Helander, Simpson & Katic, either Wright or Sakala. Roofe.
Mcann, Devine/Zukowski on loan. possibly Lowry if he isnt gonna get much game time.
Sands will play more along the back line I reckon. He has looked better at CB than in midfield IMO, could also cover RB as can King.
Jack will only be available for half the games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Realistically Helander, Roofe and Wright are never being cut.
And we may as well bin the academy if we loan out our best talents and shut the door to first team. Also makes a far less attractive team.

The squad is well heavy at the moment. I deffo think some of the lower quality guys will go. As it stands we effectively have 7 CBs and 9 CMs on our books;
GK; McGregor McLaughlin McCrorie
RB; Tavs Zukowski Devine
CB; Goldson Souttar Helander Simpson
King Davies Katic
LB; Borna
Wide players; Wright Matondo Kent Lowry Sakala
CM; Jack Lundstrum Davis Kamara Arfield
Sands Lawrence Tillman McCann
Strikers; Morelos Roofe Colak

thats why i said in a prev post they need to be loaned out to top flight clubs up here. they need to play at this level if they cant cut it at lesser teams they prob aint gonna cut it with us.
cut the players that cant keep fit, we never see the best of them cos by the time they get there they get injured again.
