pre season is obviously meaningful but not to base what will happen in the actual season on

think theyll have a better season (not hard) but still be bad

This. I don’t think they’ll go down.

I get that pre season is more about fitness, working on tactics and getting match sharpness.

However, they’ve yet to score in pre season and getting battered by a MLS side has to be worrying. Forest are having a real go in the transfer market and for my money look in better shape than Everton.

I can see them needing 3 of Fulham, Bournemouth, Southampton and Leeds to be worse than them - and I’m not sure they will be

issues off the field too isnt there, didnt they post a 400m loss over the last 3 seasons?

I doubt they'll go down. Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford and probably Southampton will be below them I reckon. Possibly Forest too, though I think they'll have a decent season

It's a friendly where hosts of players are replaced throughout the game. This is why most people don't read into friendlies. Chelsea, with the third best squad in the league lost on penalties to an American team.

Liverpool lost 4-0 to United.

Friendlies are about testing new things, tactics, young players, fringe players and building fitness.

I don't see them being in a relegation fight this time.

I actually think they’ll go down I’m sorry to say as I quite like Everton as a club.

Don’t rate Lampard as a manager, they’ve sold their best or one of their best players, they’ve been in stagnation for a long time, and the kind of extended poor form they had throughout last season is difficult to overcome. Plus they don’t seem to have the money to strengthen their squad in the way that they need to.

Reminds me a little of Hamburg in Germany where you have a once storied club which people thought was always too good to go down, but continued to stagnate and stagnate and recruit incredibly poorly until the u thinkable happened and they were relegated.

MLS dominating the Prem last night.

Have Everton actually bought anyone yet? They’ll definitely finish bottom half with current group of players but i think they will avoid the drop again

Everton - 4th bottom at best

A bit like spurs 4th top at best

Pre-season is all about fitness, take the results with a pinch of salt.

I think Mee from Burnley or at least one of their central defenders. They are also apparently interested in Cornet from Burnley so doesn’t inspire much confidence.

The thing with Everton is that they narrowly avoided the drop last season, can’t strengthen due to financial constraints and have sold their best player.

They have a novice manager who quite often looks out of depth at this level and a group of players with next to no quality.

Forest will have vociferous support from the start and a real buzz around the place.

Bournemouth and Fulham will drop in my opinion.

Brentford have a real togetherness and a decent manager.

Leeds and Southampton will be Everton’s rivals - Leeds have spent pretty well but lost their best players and again have a novice manager. Ralph and Southampton are streaky - but they have retained JWP so if they can get a Broja replacement they won’t be worse off.

Everton and Leeds fighting for fourth bottom I reckon

no they don't, the best 3 are us, chelsea and city.

Spurs have signed maybe one starter in Bissouma who is a good player.

The rest just make up the numbers, no one really stands out all from the others.

Yes, that’s what I meant - he is the player they have taken from Burnley - not Ben Mee

Pickford
Patterson Mina Tarkowski Mykolenko
Doucoure Allan Gomes
Gordon DCL Gray

Keane, Godfrey, Townsend, Iwobi, Coleman

should still have enough to stay up.

Oh right okay. I knew it was one of the Burnley defenders just didn’t know which. Tarkowski is actually a decent signing but they need to do a lot more.

That bench is super weak. They are a couple of injuries away from disaster.

Perisic starts as does Lenglet, so not just Bissouma. Richarlison offers much needed cover.

Liverpool have arguably not signed a single player that will be a starter next season if Darwin’s pre season form is anything to go by.

Our squad is better than Chelsea’s currently

Mina - always injured
DCL - one stand out season plus injury issues
Gomes, Allan, Doucoure - absolutely no creativity, just crabs and cloggers

Their only chance is Mina staying fit and Gordon go up a level.
