think we should try and sell as much as possible from:

GLC
Reguilon
Ndombele(loan)
Rodon
Emerson
Tanganga(loan)
Winks
Lucas
Gil(loan)
Sarr(loan)

first before more incomings. need to sort those non homegrown numbers out. currently 5 over in the champions league

Do not want Zaniolo - ACL tears in both knees, poor stats, would cost a lot.

Maddison shaaaats all over Zaniolo

seems like another Lamela to me - technical, creative, decent attitude injury record plays for Roma and will probably struggle to replicate his Serie A form in the PL. So at £40-50m seems like a waste UNLESS we get NDombele going the other way. NDomb and £35m for Zaniolo would be worth it just to get him off our books.

Rumours of interest in Ndombele from AC Milan which makes sense given that they’ve lost Kessie and the Sanchez transfer seems to have fallen through.

I’d rather bomb Ndombele out to them for £15m and sign Maddison for £60m - only £10m more than your deal

Maddison is a rat thursday night g00oner. No from me.

Prefer Gordon from Everton or Zaniolo who Paratici really likes. Seems to have got over his injuries problems but apparently has a big attitude problem. Lets see. I'll trust the club on this one. The AM position is a bench option anyway so it's not a big deal for me.

CB is way more important

I reckon Parish would ask for £40m minimum. He is a Levy fan boy. Buy low, sell high type of guy. He rince Utd for £50m? for Wan-Bissaka.

Yeah - if we had to only sign one of the two I’d much rather another top quality CB than an AM.

Whoever we sign I wonder if Conte will pull the old "It's a club investment" line like he did with Spence.

Yes he may of OK'ed the transfer but why say it in the first place?

posted on 21/7/22

Don't care which attacking midfielder we sign as long as they offer more than GLC, Ndombele & Dele managed over the past couple of years

Because I do t think he intends to play Spence much - he took Doc and Royal to South Korea, but left Reggie at home because he doesn’t figure this season.

Also Conte used Lucas as a RWB - which I made an article about but everyone Pooh poohed at the time.

I think Spence is well down the pecking order

The rhetoric I'm getting a little tired of on every Spurs board and Twitter is "If Paratici and Conte want him, I say let's go for him".

It's always important to support a manager with the assets he requires but they're not magicians. They get things wrong too.

I remember when we signed Royal for £30m and at the time, I remember reading a column by Tim Vickery, a South American journalist who is well versed on Brazilian talent and he just couldn't understand it. He was highly cautious about how effective he'd be and that's been proven true. I know some fans want to be patient with him but he's just not a wingback. He's a cautious right back with all the attacking prowess of an overweight goalkeeper.

Then there's Gil. Tidy player but one the club spent £30m plus Lamela on. On loan last season and likely to be again. Then there's Gollini, potentially Sarr (although to be fair, we don't know anything about him yet).

The point is they make mistakes. Big ones sometimes. Zaniolo has ruptured both ACLs. He got as many red cards (2) last season as he did goals and assists. In fact, he's never hit numbers the likes of Maddison and Eriksen have hit. Not even close.

If we're looking for a way to change a game, I don't see how you do that by bringing on a player in the Kulu mould that isn't even in the same stratosphere in terms of numbers.

The reason we're in for him I think is because it's now mooted that Roma are willing to accept a loan with an option to buy. In essence he suits Spurs financially, not on the pitch.

This happens with every underwhelming purchase. First comes the anger, then acceptance and then the spin.

If this is supposed to be our 'Eriksen', wow!!!! And to think we turned him down.

Unless maybe Eriksen isn't vaccinated and that's why we gave him the cold shoulder? Does seem weird that and I'm not sure it's a good policy. In a year or two vaccination status in countries currently applying strict control over will likely relax them. We might end up turning our noses up on good players for irrelevant reasons long term.

Or perhaps it’s the 180k pw salary he was after on a 3 year contract. Which equates to 28m for a player that Conte used sparingly previously.

Had Spence signed and went on tour it may have been a different story so can't read too much into it. Lets see what Conte does this weekend against Rangers

I wanted Eriksen back as much as anyone but that ship has sailed.

I do firmly believe we need an AM - of the names bandied about I’d much sooner pick Maddison than Zaniolo though.

I agree that the argument that just because the manager wants a certain player we should get him irrespective of the analytics, but in Conte’s case I think there is much more leeway given how controlled and systematic his style of play is and given his incredible track record of getting the most out of otherwise average or seemingly past their best players.

That makes sense regarding his process and his ability to see what others don't. Moses is a perfect example of that.

That said, I think we all saw last season just how much we struggled to break down teams with a low block, a common feature of opposition teams the better we become. We have players that can score on their own, sure, but what we found was that if you cut off supply out wide and man mark Kane, we're easily defeated.

We now have more attacking ability out wide with Perisic and Spence so there's less of a need to play three up top as we had done all of last season. At Inter, Conte fluctuated between 3 up in some games and then 2 up with one playmaker behind (Eriksen). Assuming we want flexibility for those hard to win games, we don't have anybody that can fulfil that playmaker role behind Kane and Son. At the moment, those frailties aren't exposed as Kane is playing both roles but what of the games he doesn't start?

It just seems odd to me. You'd think he'd want different options, not inferior versions of the players he'd already started with.

The irony if we do try and sign Maddinson is that we should have signed him for £2m from Coventry when he first burst on to the seen. From what I know Poch at the time said no Levy wanted him as as player whos value wouild rocket. Maddison had his bags packed too. ... I know this becuase Maddison is not much older than my eldest lad and he used to play footy in the same school team in Coventry and all the lads from then still keep in touch etc so the info comes fro them lads.

Infact I think I recall we may have signed him for and initial £400,000 weith add-ons..... and the walked away from the deal.... well its what I recall from the time.

Poch in the transfer market was a disaster. Turned down a quite a few players who would we all have in the squad today.

Grealish was the more stupid pass but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Talent is one thing but attitude is important too. The club may have felt at the time that both Maddison and Grealish were a bit billy big bollllllllocks and they would have been right.

If we got every transfer decision right, we'd be top of the league. No one does.

It's strange how great signings are the club's idea but if we passed on a top player or signed a dud it was always Poch's fault. It's a weird theory given how none of us really know what went on. He doesn't half get an unnecessary bashing sometimes, Poch.

Poch’s Achilles heel certainly was his transfer savvy but at the same time he asked for a number of other players and was lumped with the likes of Fabrizio Fazio, Clinton N’Jie and Nkoudo.

All this talk of Maddison & Zaniola… Neither are going to happen.
Why spend serious money, when there’s the option of Dybala & Lingard for free?!!!
