Football is all business now and has been for a while

i'm still waiting for Daniel Levy to sort a deal for our ground but i'll always refer to it as The Lane and i'll always say i'm going to Elland Road if i come to your place no matter what company sponsors your ground.

Why is it only a matter of time? Is it happening to Anfield Park or Old Trafford or Goodison or Craven Cottage or Stamford Bridge or Villa Park or St. James'. Yes it has happened at the Emirates and the Etihad but surely these are newer grounds with no history and no tradition. It might happen at St. Mary's but I am not sure it is an inevitability.
You might argue that it is an Americanism creeping in but even in the states where owners know how to sell their soul for a fast buck teams know not to mess with such things. Don't you think the owners of Fenway Park have thought about this.
I truly believe that if the owners tried to sell the name of ER, called it the Heinz Baked Beans or something such like nobody would refer to it as that or you'd get a badge-gate backlash.
Some things you just don't mess with.

Interesting the Spurs Fan still refers to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Lane, has the Tottenham ground ever been in White Hart Lane or is that just the closest station to it, used to manage a residential project at the Edmonton end of Tottenham High Road very close to the North Circular but it was a long time ago and I cannot remember.
Anyway it's interesting that the name has stuck even though the stadium isn't in White Hart Lane. I don't suppose "the High Road" has the same romance to it.

Forest are having renovation work done to there main stand too. Don't think its capacity related though. I cant see them changing the name of an iconic stadium like several of the top flight teams have.

I'm sure no Arsenal fans refer to the Emirates as Highbury but that's Arsenal fans for you – they'd sell their own granny...

Mike Ashley tried it at Newcastle…the fans were having none of it.

reckon we should switch to that hearburn badge and rename ER as the gaviscon stadium, would make us a fortune lol

They can name the stadium anything they want!..

To me it will always be Elland Road!..

The same as the Gelderd End is still the Gelderd End!..

Oh, and I want our White Rose back on our shirt!.
