Has anyone been watching Strange New Worlds?

whats the deal with trek now?

didnt like enterprise, discovery was ok at first but then got bored with it. lower decks was ok.. started watching that but stopped.

Over the last year or so I have blasted through TNG, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Drastically changing my mind on all them from when I watched when I was younger but not properly.

There’s that much content now that it’s always going to be hit and miss.

There’s heavy criticism of just about anything these days but it would be unfair to suggest that all new Trek is bad.

I’ve seen some outstanding individual episodes. As for Disovery, one of my good friends tells me that they’re preaching and not exploring social commentaries.

I’m definitely keen to start watching Strange New Worlds as that’s supposed to be episodic and not season arcs (at least I think).

The benefit of that is tighter contained stories.

yeah first season was very slapstick comedy, 2nd season toned down quite a bit. its on 3rd season now and its now a full blown star trek clone but with some swearing and more realistic scenarios almost.

Its very much in the TNG format now, pretty much every episode in season 3 when its finished iv sat back and thought its felt like one of the special episodes from star trek. Every single episode in season 3 has been excellent.

You can tell Mcfarlane has fell in love with it and in a recent interview i seen he was saying he doesnt need the comedy and the jokes anymore as the characters are developed enough that they dont need it no more.

Will check it out for sure.

Been watching The Original Series over the last few months and you can’t help but marvel at watching Shatner and Nemoy on screen together. They really were a tour de force.

I would recommend sticking with it til season 3 ... if you dont like it by the half way point of season 3 you prob wont.

If you like the original / TNG series though I would be surprised if you didnt like Orville.

But Mcfarlane basically gave up Family Guy / American Dad to focus solely on this

Much like yourself, I’m juggling other shows.

In the middle of the original series rewatch, been watching The Boys and just started The Terminal List on Amazon.

I watched the first 4 episodes of it and didnt think it was gonna be worthwhile.

Picard Season 3 was phenomenal btw
