His reputation has taken a bit of a hammering at Juve it seems. I haven't really watched him for them but maybe it's worth remembering he was a really promising player at PSG, who quite a few of Europe's elite were looking at when he left.
I think its the perceived attitude problem that also turns people off though.
He sounds like a good upgrade on the McTominay role. In fact, the best thing about him for me will be that it means I don’t have to watch McTominay starting for us if he takes his place.
Can someone go to the effort or debunking those stats that show McTominay as better than him though, because they worry me, and I cba to prove them wrong.
Who needs an Athletic subscription when you have this forum
Obviously an upgrade on what you have now, but could easily see it failing for both parties given his style and moreso attitude issues.

I said on a thread earlier that i think Rabiot played fairly frequently at LWB last season (at least as per a Sky Sports analysis of him), so probably isn't a fair comparison if that is the case.
If it happens.... i think once the dust settles, most will be onboard with the signing. Decent age, decent price and can blend into the squad as and when we improve the midfield options.
I think a perfect storm of losing a game, the arnautovic rumours and that meme of his and McT's stats (skewed, as mentioned above) just got a lot of people angry.
As, let's say, a Matic replacement, it seems a decent deal.

I saw them
To be honest he’s the level of midfielder we need to be making up the squad to compete, he should be our main target for a top midfielder he should be replacing McT in the squad eventually and we obviously still need a top midfielder as well.
I haven't been on there to check but apparently the Juventus message boards are in absolute stitches that we are about to take him off them.
I think that says everything you need to know.

The article talks quite little about his own attitude, but alot about his mums - who sounds a nightmare to work with / do deals with. Hopefully the fans get behind him and we can see the best of him.

I saw on Twitter someone posting comparison stats, but I think the simple debunk to that is the fact he's been consistently picked for France, PSG, Juventus by a variety of managers.
I think only at United would Scot McT get a game
He's always been poor whenever I've watched him for Juve. His cameo against Villareal last year in particular stands out.

Well... He's not as slow, i'll give you that... But he's the most defence minded CM we've been linked too... He's quite a bit like Matic in that he is strong, tackles well and can drive forward, on occasion. He also is not the most creative player.
What kind of player do you think he is, if not like Matic?
McTominay is not a top midfield player, but the stick he gets on here is ridiculous.

I've no doubt he tries his best but I don't think he's good enough MU52. He's probably become the escape goat but he got 17 touches on Sunday in the first half apparently and gave the ball away 7 times. No wonder our attacking play looks poor if they don't get the ball often enough.
My main hope, is ETH can do with Rabiot what he did with Haller at Ajax.
Never really made it at West Ham, but in ETH did incredibly well with Ajax in the league & Europe.
Here's to hoping...

It really is not. He is an awful footballer who would not start in any other premier teams midfield.
It would he nice to have midfielders who are actually comfortable with the ball at their feet and have a footballing brain.
McFred are no good with the ball at their feet. What they have in energy in quickly offset by their lack of positional awareness.
McT probably gets regular game time through the influence of Fletcher and SAF. I can’t think of any other reason why a player would continuously get picked by several different managers despite being painfully average majority of the games.
How can this be compared to a Fellaini signing?
Fellaini was the only signing and we brought him last minute.
Rabiot is a good player and cheap as chips for a france international.
Crazy how some people just want to moan for the sake of it.
