It's nonsense Robb. Murtough would have messed it up for any new manager as he's out of his depth.

We don't need to change managers. We need a new owner and a completely new board.

We need top class people from top to bottom. The glazers can be blamed for a lot of things and rightly so, but managers can be blamed for dithering in the transfer window and setting up sides tactically naive to the point of frustration.

Conte would have walked by now...

Probably wouldn't have made it till the end of last season...

Dithering? You don't know that he is the problem.
They could be telling him a pack of lies for all we know.

The Glazers haven't learned from 9 years of mistakes. Instead of hiring best in class they appoint bankers and current employees who have been part of the failure.

Conte wouldn't succeed here. I don't even think Pep would.

ETH signed a 5'9 centreback. Given how fragile our defence was, this is just adding unwanted pressure. Seems technically naive on first impressions.

Every team now has a green light to hoof it up to our goal. We now have one of the slowest defenders along with one of the shortest as our first choice CB partnership.

Lenglet hasn’t kicked a ball straight for two years. I doubt you’d have been too happy with that signing.

No chance this board goes for Conte, they'll go for Poch.

If ETH succeeded a manager like Poch, he'd have an easier job right now—the squad would be better and fitter.

This. While I get the sentiment in the OP Paratici has had a big role in changing how we've approached the market. He's not perfect but any stretch but you really need a director of football with a plan.

I said on another thread - Ten Hag might get it right or wrong on the pitch, but he stands no chance if he's not supported properly. And that's not just money, that's strategic planning and recruitment.

Pretty arrogant to suggest if ETH walks Utd could just get Conte. As a club Spurs are now in an excellent position. Massive growth of revenue and commercial operations in recent years, development of world class football infrastructure ie training facilities and stadium, recruitment of a top DoF who has built his own team around him, and now Champions League football.

Conte has all this at his disposal; he is on huge wages, with his family in London, in the CL, working alongside his friend a Paratici, in elite facilities and he has been backed with the kind of ambition that he demands.

It’s not some Mickey Mouse job that you just walk away from if there’s a knock on the door. Despite Utd being the much bigger club, you could argue that they are behind Spurs in nearly every other way at the moment and if a Conte upped sticks he’d be taking a backward step in that Utd are yet to do any of the groundwork that had already been put in place at a Spure by the time he arrived.

Finally, one other difference is that Levy may have his critics, but he’s a lifelong Spurs fan who was a ST holder before becoming CEO. He’s at every game, he oversaw every facet of the stadium build to ensure the DNA of the club wasn’t lost. He has had to be tight and ruthless to efficiently navigate the club through the transition of the stadium build and then covid, but that man is an excellent CEO and is 100% passionate about this club.

Ace, you make some very good points in your article. Levy had his critics amongst Spurs fans during the early stages of his project. I dare say he hasn't a single critic now.

LOL as if Conte is going to walk away from Spurs to manage United.

Gone are the days when United could attract the best. Nothing lasts forever.

Levy has always had my 100 per cent support. Best in the business in my opinion. Sadly a lit if Spurs fans have been on his back. So ungrateful for what he has done for our club.

Rightly or wrongly he will have critics until trophies are won as it’s the one stick fans have left to beat us with, everything else is elite - Ground, Squad, Manager, budget.

That 3-0 loss to United was the best result we had in a very long time and a fair few of us on our board were calling it at the time.

The arrogance of some of the United family to say Conte is not a United manager is astounding, read the room - your side is schitt and needs an absolutely ruthless dictator of a manager to tear it apart, get rid of the wasters and bring in quality with an idea of a playing style to win in this league - basically Antonio Conte.

We he come now - Faaaack no. Conte would be taking a step back despite Uniteds pedigree

Tbf I didn’t mean we should or would get Conte from Spurs. He’s probably at a better run club so would be hard to do. I just meant the end of Ten Hag May coincide with the Conte ragequit most are predicting at Spurs.

But sadly our best chance to get him would have been last season. We thought we were too good for him.

Let’s revisit a couple of months from now, I bet Conte gets this guy purring. Either way it’s a loan with no obligation so not the end of the world for us if he continues his erratic form

I think the so called rage quit is over blown - He got faaacked off with Chelsea in a way a lot of their managers do and he left Inter because they ran out of money and had to start selling the squad he assembled after he delivered the title.

I think Conte will stick at Spurs for a lot longer.

United need an elite manager in their prime and forget about a notion of a project - it’s not the 80’s with SAF anymore

To go back to your original point Robb, that 0-3 result was a facking blessing

Honestly we were in turmoil at that point, Nuno was a clown who was way out of his depth, the fans were losing their sheite in the ground and Levy looked a combination of uncomfortable and furious. Thankfully he sacked Nuno next day and set about putting right what they’d facked up that summer. The upswing since then has been tremendous.

Mind boggling to me that Utd didn’t move for Conte when he was out of work considering the quality that City, Liverpool and Chelsea have as managers. Not acting like a big club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, it was baffling. Your gain, our loss.
