Just to add, welshpool is the guy who said that had one decision gone differently against Liverpool last season, they might have won the league… and then denied linking refereeing decisions with final league positions.

He will argue anything and deny anything. He can’t admit when he’s wrong, and he has the audacity to point that claim at me when quite clearly I can.

It’s as funny pulling apart his moronic comments as it is pitiful that he makes them.

This is hilarious coming from someone who literally has shown in this thread that they don't know what a "piece" of something is. Five people have pointed out that you are incorrect and messed up yet, despite your catchphrase being that you can admit you are wrong, you refuse to accept you were wrong.

‘Just another piece’

The implication being that it’s not similar if equivalent to, not that it’s a standalone piece.

You’re so desperate to catch me out you’re now struggling with basic English and trying to tell me what I meant.

You’re all over the place, yet again, and it really is quite funny to watch.

Not as funny as the comment I’ve mentioned above though. That was a new low for you.

Im not going to jump on the Winston bashing bandwagon, instead just ask…

What exactly did you mean when you wrote:

““Making it out like Russia’s actions are just another piece of the pie in terms of rising e every costs is embarrassing.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for actually asking, though I find it a bit ridiculous that this needs explaining.

‘Just another piece of the pie’ would suggest it’s of similar or equal value to the other causes.

It’s not.

It’s a much greater cause and therefore shouldn’t be talked about as if it’s just one of many reasons for the current situation.

Good luck to the bed wetting Liverpool fans to try and argue that, which they will almost certainly try to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So it is a "greater cause" but still only one of multiple. So it quite literally is just another piece.

Here is a lesson. If you cut something into different sized pieces, the bigger piece is still just another piece of the whole.

You've properly embarrassed yourself again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You don’t understand what is meant by ‘this isn’t just another’, do you?

It’s funny… at some point the penny will drop that you’re wrong but you won’t be able to admit it.

You literally have zero understanding of how the world, and more specifically governments, work.

And you have absolutely no idea of my background, my work and my education… so this comment is just childish posturing from someone who can’t stop throwing tantrums on the forum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s it, let it all out. This constant need of yours to be ‘right’ all the time comes down to one thing…. Low self esteem.

You actually used to be okay, and now you just use the forum as a release for something. Hope you’re okay.

For those still struggling, try looking up a book called ‘Not Just Another Killing in Oakland’.

It’s one of many examples of the phrase being used to describe something where there’s greater importance or emphasis on that event.

The simpletons here would have you believe that the author is saying there are no other killings. Just this one.

It beggars belief what some people on here need explaining.

Winston, your initial comment on this thread was if we can get through this winter then Putin’s trump card goes out the window, completely disregarding that this crisis was already in full swing long before intervention from Russia.

When this was pointed out to you, you double down claiming it be a strawman argument, saying prices are where they are because of Russia’s actions, and making out that saying they were just another piece of the pie is ‘embarrassing’.

Again, you were proven incorrect because the price of wholesale gas was on a steep increase long before any intervention from Russia.

The last 2 weeks have been pretty brutal in terms of gas trading but from April-June, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, after all sanctions were put in place, after the West had put plans in place the ween off Russian energy (all actions you would think would lead to higher prices) the spot price of gas traded under 160 PPT for 28 working days, even reaching a low of 114 PPT (the lowest it’s been in exactly 1 year) and the cost of wholesale electricity was lower in all 3 months than any month from September 21 leading up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This alone should highlight what little impact their actions have had in gas prices.

Now for sure, restricting supply of gas into Europe is going to hurt us and bring prices up higher, but the most recent 80% price hike is not in relation to that. Energy suppliers purchase gas months or even years in advance of their distribution and the most recent increase was coming regardless of the war in Ukraine.
With that in mind, I’m not even sure how much of an impact they have had on the forecasted increases for April 2023, considering those blocks could have been purchased as far back as 2018 at significantly lower costs than where they trade at today.

And yet you are apportioning nearly all the blame to Russia despite multiple people on this thread proving that they are in fact just another piece of the pie, and with that proven still keep telling them that they can’t admit they are wrong, when clearly it is you who can’t admit it.

You are completely and utterly wrong.

Firstly, my comment about Putin is correct. This is his trump card and if Europe and come through it then he has played all his cards apart from nuclear war.

Secondly, this wasn’t a crisis before Russia’s actions, it was more of a problem.

It’s not just energy prices, it’s the knock on effect of inflation that is causing real damage. The idea that what Russia have done has not had much impact to a crisis that already existed is pure fiction.

You’re either deliberately trying to spin the truth to avoid blaming Russia or you’re just not reading enough on the subject.

Im not apportioning all or nearly all blame to Russia.

I’m saying it’s the biggest cause of this crisis and you’re implying it’s just another cause. And for the simpletons on this thread, that means I’m giving it far greater emphasis, not sole responsibility.

You obviously won’t accept any of this though, for reasons unknown.

Winston continues digging his hole. Doesn't even know that if something isn't the whole cause then it is just another piece of the whole cause, regardless of the size of the individual pieces.

How was it not a crisis? The all time price of gas over 30 years was 117 PPT set back in November 2005. Until 2021, the average price of gas was around 40 PPT. At the start of the pandemic it was only 8 PPT.

In August 2021 the price went above 117 PPT, the previous all time high and has not looked back since. That is more than an entire year of consecutive days trading over a 30 year all time high, the majority of that time before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As for inflation - that is being caused by the energy crisis. What are you not getting here? I already explained in the OP that domestic prices lag far behind what the SME and Corporate sector pay on their energy costs. You think they have been rising prices all this time for a laugh? They have had to do it to survive, now we, the domestic customers, are seeing why, with the upcoming 80% increase, when most business have been living with over 100% increases for nearly all of 2022.

You saying Russia is the biggest cause of the crisis is 100% factually incorrect. The news of supply restriction has definitely had an impact of gas prices over the last month but we, the domestic customers, are not going to feel the effect of that for a long time.

Listen, we disagree about the extent of Russia’s involvement and we’ll never agree, but I will source some stats to prove my point, no problem.

However, that’s a different argument to the one the Liverpool simpletons are having, where they think saying ‘it’s not just cause’ means it’s the only cause. Anyone with half a brain surely understands that is nonsense.

Number of killings is a literal number, as is number of pieces of a pie.

‘Not just another piece’ doesn’t mean it’s the whole piece, it means it has greater emphasis and importance.

You can try as hard as you like… you got it wrong. Again.
