Would be great to come back from the Brighton loss to get a solid win here.
Also, its lampard, so anything that gets him closer to being sacked is always great
We look a different animal at home. 14 goals in our last 4 games at ER in all comps including the 6 v Cagliari. It is Lampard who always seems to have our number. Hope we thump them.
2-0 Win, Harrison and LLorente.
So, it is not matchday then?

Maupay signed from Brighton not Brentford btw
This feels like an important game. Should win, almost must win. A loss and a lot of good work this season so far will be cancelled out.

I know it's clickbait but, one story today had Chelsea
offering Gallagher, Broja, and 25 mill for Everton's Quasimodo Gordon. If that's even remotely true
the Chelsea board needs drug testing.
The margins are small in the league this season…start like we did at Brighton and we will lose. 7 points is a nice start, but we must push on…especially against relegation fodder.

To call a game in August "must win" is ridiculous
Its not a must win but .... back to back defeats would be a hit to the confidence. Gotta keep our home run going, especially against rival sides.

I know I know, it's just with a fair chunk of the supporters fed up with a perceived or otherwise lack of signings, at the end of the window, against a bad side. A second loss on the bounce will panic a few and the level of negativity won't be good.
Whilst it is only the 4th game, I'm looking at this fixture as an indication of where we are as Everton are seen as one of the sides who will struggle again this season. Let's hope for 3 points and a dominant performance.

Not sure it is as ridiculous as it sounds. Just because it is in August and not at the back end of April doesn't mean it isn't a game we need to win to put less pressure on the guys at the end of the season. It helps builds confidence and shows us where we are at. Three points today means we need to get three points less at some point, possibly against more able opposition.
james out kent / hwang in?
blimey, parker sacked
spurs apparently have made an official approah for james on loan

Don't think what month it is is relevant.
We need to consistently take points in the games we're favored to prevent what h happened last year.
I don't think the players heads would drop or anything negative like that but we're a new team basically and to keep our good start going can help our confidence for the tougher games to come.
Any journo talk of signing another winger is nothing more than clickbait. If it isn't then the owners need their heads banging against the wall.
A central striker is what is needed, nothing more, nothing less.
I missed els saying basically the same thing only better.
Good and very relevant thread - but isn't every game a must-win? I worried privately that we effectively dropped two points at Southampton and that was only the second game! I guess we're stressing out early because we fear a relegation battle later?
This is where the club falls short in terms of recruitment. It's pretty obvious to just about anyone with half a brain that we still need to sign another striker (not a winger!) and a left back.
Sgt Wilko hits the nail on the head: three points AND a dominant performance would be great! We certainly need a response following the poor performance at Brighton, from both players and coach.
Very worried about this one. Everton are quietly improving and had enough chances to bury Brentford. Their tactics are similar to Brighton, crowd the midfield, push out to the wings or lob the ball over the top for Gordon to run onto. Awobi and Onana are creative players and if Maupay is on the pitch, I can see him getting the better of Llorente.
We can get at their defence, but we need Harrison and Rodrigo to recover some form. Sinisterra must start, I can see him giving Tarky a run for his money.
Fat Frank will get his team fired up for this and if we start as slowly as we did against Brighton, it will be a long night for us. Sorry to say, I think Everton are going to nick this one, with the added horror of a red card for either Roca or Adams. They have been walking a fine line so far and it feels our luck is about to run out. Maupay to bring us firmly back down to earth, 1-0 Everton.
We have started the season way better than them. Didnt see their last game but seen a few others and they were awful. If we cant beat these at home there is something wrong. Brighton are a much better side. I fancy a Leeds win. If we lost ill be really disappointed to be honest.
