Conte statement "the other squads in the top teams have too much distance " make of that what you will ,is he disappointed or being honest?

Conte's view of TW summed up here: "We want to continue to improve. We're working very well, I'm happy to have this squad, the new players are totally inside the dressing room. We did the right things. But if someone thinks we completed the situation, we are very far from this."

I think we can all agree so at least we are on the same page

433 would mean Davies at LB... no thanks

Because there's not a chance Perisic could play there in a back 4

Conte seems wedded to a back 5.

Chelsea, Inter, Juve and Spurs

4 3 3 not happening on a permanent basis

I think the difference is that Spurs ended last season very strongly. Last 14 games our form pretty much matched City & LFC so although we needed improvements, there werent any glaring holes in the XI. What has come in had added quality in the squad, and players who will have to earn their place. Richarlison doesnt replace Son just because he cost a lot, likewise Spence, Bissouma. Lenglet. They are better than we had in reserve before but they do not necessarily oust an established starter. They will have to prove themselves capable with the chances they are given. Perisic definitely does walk into the team, but the others, nah!

We've got neither the defenders nor midfielders to make a 433 or 4231 or whatever work. We'll be alright guys. Chill

you've been getting results without playing particularly well and the new players will be getting integrated. Could be perfect as the season gets deeper into it and you have a slight drop of resuls and you can bring the new guys in.

Of course things will get better (hopefully). The point here though is that by signing early which we never do, I thought it would mean the new signings would have integrated earlier.

RE 433, Perisic or Sessegnon could give it a try. We shouldn’t need 3 CB at home every match. Or we go for 3-5-2 and drop an attacker. Point is we need more bodies in the midfield…

Totally agree but not sure Conte does, he appears to be very rigid in his formations not dissimilar to Mourinho or Nuno, football with the handbrake on

This is fair but all managers will be saying this. Which manager says he doesn't want more players in the future.

Pretty well all the top managers have a preferred formation and play style. Mourinho, and Nuno especially, are lazy comparisons.

Besides all that, do people forget how good we were at the end of last season when it started to click? Yeah it's not perfect now but we're undefeated and 8 points up on last season's fixtures.

Son being out of form, Romero injury.. there's reasons we'll get better pretty darn quickly, let alone over the season

I don’t know why fans still talk about playing a back four when Conte is the manager.

posted on 2/9/22

Playing Royal when he is clearly not the best attacking wingback, is that not a tactical decision from Conte

Just listening to view from the Lane and obviously the early part of the show is reviewing the Hammers game, I'd recommend this episode it to anybody.

I haven't heard my views so well represented by any pundits for a long time, imo their summary about what watching Spurs is like atm is spot on.

Give it a listen.

Listening now. 'You can't go on being lucky.. am I wrong?'

Yes. Because we're not being lucky. Defending well and restricting opponents to few chances while creating plenty isn't luck, it's just a way of playing some people don't like. It's fine to have that opinion but until we start losing games he is actually wrong.

'In the end I don't care how you play..' he's all over the place.

His latest quotes read for me like the first signs of prickliness emerging. Whichever way you slice it, that's frustration. Right now he'll back that up with the usual "it's a process, we need time" kind of rhetoric but the truth is in the frustration, not the platitudes.

January is going to be very interesting. He's going to want to go again but traditionally Levy hates to based on the common belief that the prices are just a little too premium for his tastes but he's just going to have to. Otherwise he loses Conte and then almost certainly Kane and the entire house of cards come tumbling down.

He's pulled a 7/10 window when in reality, whilst we have Conte and the CL, we needed a 9/10. Even with Conte in his ear, he still couldn't bring himself to go for broke.

I'm telling you. The fortunes of this club will never change whilst we have ENIC in control. Conte, Kane, Pochettino, whoever. It doesn't matter.

I think Conte is just lowering expectations. The kneejerks from some of the fans on socials because we haven't won every game 3-0 or signed another 60m player on deadline day is too much. Maybe that is Levy's fault for announcing the 150m but I think they had to, right?

Still listening btw. They're bang on about VAR

It's more the way we have started games, sitting back 1st half and absorbing pressure

I hate VAR. It is killing the game and it hasn't even achieved what it set out to do in terms of cutting out human error from refereeing. If anything it seems to favour the biggest clubs more than ever. Celebrating a goal and then having to calm down and wait 2 minutes to find out if your team has actually scored kills the joy of your team scoring. Then even if it's given, the feeling is more relief than excitement. Not a fan of Sepp Blatter at all but being anti VAR is one thing he was right about in my opinion.

This rhetoric about kneejerking and moaning fans is such a lazy view to take. Being objective and being happy that we have a good points return while identifying performance and transfer issues does not make you a moaner. Some fans really seem to believe Conte can do no wrong.

People giving out about transfers, we tried for Bastoni, Gvardiol and L.Martinez but got told to sod off.
Turns out we tried for Hakimi as well but got told to sod off.

What can the club do when clubs are refusing to sell?

We couldn’t get Jesus or Sterling as they both wanted to be starting.

I think we had a good transfer window and the bench looks very good compared to last season when it was a laughing stock.
