We did so well defending narrow and still having success on the break without being all out adventurous but 2H he sent them out with a rallying cry to get a goal and commit a little more? Would we have clung on had we got one - probably not - they would just have upped their gears? But there was always a chance of clinging to a 0-0 the way we were.
GG was magnificent in the circumstances for a limited player.

RB Leipzig have sacked their manager this morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
of course they have, wouldn't want us getting a team in crisis now would we.
who they getting in, pep?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What an easy group.
A team in a warzone, a team in crisis and some mugs from Madrid.

modric was the stand out but Valverde was cracking as well.
its mental with modric, he's scrawny as f... but you can't get remotely close to him.
Hatate btw, that quick free kick, absolutely beautiful. he was our motm last night imo, him or mcgregor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hatate wasn't out of place at that level.
As well as playing his own position he was also covering Taylor and Jota on the left.
Absolutely outstanding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of passes not crisp enough getting intercepted but very good otherwise and he was not unique in the passing aspect, even Calmac was guilty.
Maeda just isn't a finisher is he ?
And Abada had spent his wad on Saturday
Both poor imo last night
Seen as you guys are naming players who stood out for Celtic.
The ones who stood out as being pash were Taylor and Maeda.

Harsh calling Glasgow a war zone
Thought we were excellent in that first half, just needed a wee bit of luck in front of goals which we didn't get last night, 3 very good chances and 1 off the post. Needed something to cling onto. Maeda's was the big moment, again his foot turns to sh11te in front of goal. As soon as they score it sucks the life out everyone and then they get a break of the ball leading upto 2nd which kills the game completely in the blink of an eye.
Got to be proud of the way the team played though, it was great to watch. Need a point at least next week.

Calmac gave away at least 4 that I counted. Not really intercepted either. Just fired at an opponent.

That's just what you do after your closest rival in a competition beats you 4-1.
I thought Taylor was good last night
I know he was injured but Rudiger coming on for Militao helped them as well, big GG was getting a bit of joy out of him in the 1st half
compsoure was the difference and always is against the top teams.
abadas effort was poor, there was another in which he had tons of space and managed to hit wide before it even got to the near post.
maedas was a bad one
Jota wasn’t on it last night. He did not defend well and was posted missing when Taylor needed support. He will learn from that or Ange will bench him.

i agree and disagree with the sentiment here. i think there is a bigger difference in what we have against the very best in the world than what there is between a united player and a celtic player.
thats not to say its not a huge gulf btw.
feel like the 5 subs deal is a sore one when playing the old firm for the rest.

More so i thought it looked like he didn't belong at that level than being particularly poor.
Valverde oozes class, playing with his slippers on always finding space
Hatate and McGregor were outstanding.

Terrific display for an hour and I thought we finished the game well (i know Madrid started to wind down)
If we score one of the big chances I think we could've got a result but that's the difference at this level.
liked the look of Haksabanovic when he came on, I reckon there will be quite a few changes on Saturday
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. He has shown enough in two brief appearances to suggest that he's ready to start
I like the look of him and I've had put him on earlier last night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think Haksabanovic is fit enough yet but looks really promising. Thought both Jenz and CCV could have done better for the 2 of the goals, but look Madrid are a class side so I can't be too critical.
I'm not sold on Jenz yet tbh
could be doing with a bit of a nasty streak

I think the disparity in budget between Celtic and, say Ross County, and Celtic and Real Madrid is greater.
I might be wrong in that though but I think that's the case.
Obviously that's just one metric for looking at it, but to claim it's a 'level playing field' in Scotland is a bit deluded.
