People who knew her said she had a great sense of humour.
who would rate this with 1 star ffs.
5 from me Jonty
It is an extraordinary span of time.
The Munich disaster. The 1966 World Cup. Every single James Bond book and film. Every Beatles album. Every episode of Coronation Street. 15 Prime Ministers, going all the way back to Winston Churchill.
All during Queen Elizabeth's reign.
I can’t believe she’s gone. I don’t think she wanted to carry on after she lost Phillip. As a young woman she vowed to serve her people “her whole life long” and she certainly did that. She didn’t think of retiring in her 60s or 70s she just carried on to the best of her ability. Her last duty was to greet Liz Truss as the new Prime Minister and I never dreamt at that time she was so near her end. RIP Your Majesty. Thank you.
Can't believe she's gone either. What a wonderful
lady and incredible Monarch. And Jonty, that story
is brilliant. Thanks for posting.
RIP Your Majesty
All Ive ever known is having a Queen, The Queen.
Part of the fabric of our life, a lifetime of service and duty and a lady who has been through so many changes trying to lead us, a solitary figure at her husband funeral, a superb skydiver at our London Olympics.
A very sad moment, but maybe a chance to remember a lovely story about her that shows she was just as cheeky as us all.....
^^^^^
Couldn't have said it any better.
nice story, rest in peace
A true servant to Britain, yes had wealth but dedicated her life to serving the country and respected by all.
RIP Liz
She's been gracing our Canadian money my whole life.
Not very loved here in Quebec but ive always thought she was a great person.

Nobody else around could have claimed to have met as many famous people - Monroe, The Beatles, JFK, Mandela, Churchill...don't think she met Elvis though.
Probably the most famous person on the planet.

I'm not a royalist, never have been – a shower of spongers, most of them. But the Queen was one apart. The devotion she gave to this country and the Commonwealth was frankly unbelievable. Like Jonty says, the Queen has been here all our lives and most of our parents. We kind of thought this day wouldn't come and when I heard the news, it shook me. Her death is a reminder of our mortality - oh but if most of us could achieve 100th of what she did. RIP your Maj.
Just heard an interesting fact. The Queen met 12 Canadian prime ministers. More than half of the full 23
