I remember reading plenty of articles about Palmer Luckey developing his first VR set probably about 8 years ago and being very excited for the finished product at the time, and when Sony followed suit a couple of years later I got the psvr 1, wipeout in vr was incredible, and Astro bots!
Will be looking closely at this but will wait a couple of years till there's a good library of games for it

I won't be anywhere near as patient. I will getting one as soon as possible. There is no news about backwards compatibility, but I will be amazed if that opportunity is missed. hopefully more details will be available soon, most obvious the price?
Did they mention anything about motion sickness?
Is it even something they can fix or is just something inevitable with this kind of VR (when your not physically walking around) ?

I think it's impossible to fix. When I tried Wipeout VR for the first time my head/brain felt like it was vibrating, it was bizarre, but after 30 mins or so I acclimated to it. First person walking in VR does the same thing even worse, but again you'll either get used to it or you won't, I don't think devs can fix it really.

If I had lots of disposable income I'd probably buy it straight away too, but I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic about buying one eventually

Motion sickness is a real problem, and it will affect some more than others. I was definitely affected and the worst thing you can do is try a plow through it.
What worked for me was building up slowly, There was a game with dinosaurs (can't remember it's name) walking around exploring did me no good at all. so I literally started the game and as soon as i felt a tiny bit motion sick i would stop, literally 5 mins, then I left it a day or two, and tried again, It took me about two weeks building my time up over time for the motion sickness to fade.
I never actually finished the game, but it set me up brilliantly to play Resident Evil, which I played with little issue. So you can your VR legs so to speak.
There are other things that are done to alleviate the problem, The motion controls in the headset are supposed to help, different programming techniques like teleporting instead of walking etc.
My advice, DON'T try and push through it, it really is horrible, but do like I did and build up slowly over time, if you feel a tiny bit sick walk away, and come back the next day.
Oh I should also add, that dinosaur game, I knew if I played it properly and just tried to walk around normally I wouldn't last a minute. So I did every thing in slow motion, the turning, and walking was done very slowly, but even then 5 mins was my max, but like I say i think it was a couple of weeks, and I could do a decent hour playing normally, Resident Evil, it didn't really affect me. thank god, it was a great experience, that I could have missed out on otherwise.
Look like Sony has confirmed PSVR games will not be compatible
Nishino: PSVR games are not compatible with PSVR2 because PSVR2 is designed to deliver a truly next-generation VR experience.PSVR2 has much more advanced features like all-new controllers that have haptic feedback, adaptive triggers — as I’ve said — and inside out tracking, eye tracking in it, studio’s audio (?) coming together, so this means that developing games for PSVR2 requires a whole different approach than the original PSVR.

That makes 0 sense as old PC VR games work across all technologies which include everything he mentions that has already changed on the PC hardware. I can understand PSVR2 games not working on PSVR.....are we sure this isn't a mistranslation or something?

Not sure of anything Simon. Just reporting what was said. I suppose the fact PSVR uses camera tracking lights is very different to the new system? I'm sure if is was as simple as just loading an old PSVR title in they would. So if it doesn't happen there must be a technical reason why?
If it isn't directly backward compatible, I'm sure some of the most popular titles will be reworked for them to run.
Yeh also followed up and as you said was widely reported.
But the thing is from Occulus V1 till the ones on self today we see an almost identical evolution from PSVR >> PSVR2......yet all the VR games work on all the headsets.
And unless I am missing something the fundamental movements are the same regardless of tracking method and if the PSVR1 games doesn't use eye tracking for example........well that doesn't matter
Hey Simon, I took backwards compatability as a done deal. If they are not able to do it, there must be a technical reason.
Looks like the best we can hope for is some reworked games.
The first half is a good follow up to the original video

I figure most people must have tried some VR by now? But just a reminder to those that haven't. What you are seeing is all in 3D, VR puts you in the game and gives you presence. Giving you a whole new gaming perspective.
