David Beckham queued twelve hours to see the Queen.
Top man Becks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
.....but got found by many TV cameras? Marjorie from Hull that stood next to him never got a mention.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's famous, she isn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Peed off that he didn't get a personal invite? In a 5 bloody mile queue he 'got noticed' because that's what he does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What exactly is it you're annoyed about here? As far as I understand, he didn't take the option of jumping the queue (I could be wrong on that - but I believe Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, among many others, did take it) and in the clip I saw he specifically said he couldn't wait for the cameras as it would hold up the line - he just put his head down and walked on. Say what you like about Beckham but his appearance here would seem to me part of his old-fashioned patriotism and not much more.
You have to meet and entertain foreign dignitaries, whether you like them or not. Weekly meetings with the PM. No retirement, you do it until the day you die.
Best behaviour 24 hours a day.
Travel round the world to represent us. No lying on beaches for her. Open thousands of fairs, galleries, shopping centres.
No calling in sick, no choosing your diary. Learn to speak another language. And others but will do.

This last week has shown me just how truly facked the country has become, I don’t know if we could hit any more rock bottom.
Cancelling hundreds of flights so the sounds don’t interfere with the processions, Morrisons lowering the sound of the checkout beep as some form of bizarre respect to her, and Center Parcs closing down on Monday and telling its residents to foook off and come back on Tuesday. We are a laughing pitying stock.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not to most. But we all pity you for not being able to write one decent sentence

Things are being closed so that those working people of the population can have the opportunity to pay their respects. No one is compelled by law to close their business, it is a free choice
Those who moan about such short term inconvenience are a very small majority and should simply acknowledge that the majority wish to mark this occasion in the way they see fit, and are being allowed to do so with the bank holiday.

It doesn't inconvenience me in the least (I get a day off work), but I still don't think it's right.

Not to most. But we all pity you for not being able to write one decent sentence
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you want to know what’s pitiful? A bloke living in France that claims to be a socialist monarch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I want to know. So what I live in France, I'm a so so socialist, certainly Labour. I'm not a devout monarchiste, but I believe it would be a mistake to abolish them.

Don't take this the wrong way, '52, but your hackles rise every time someone questions their purpose.
You're defined by the things you say on here, rather than the things you proclaim you are or aren't.

He wasn’t even this defensive with Ole.

Ole's blood was red, not blue!
