Honest question - whether you ended up being right or wrong, how did you specifically ‘know’ he didn’t want to join us? Was it a lucky assumption or did you have insider knowledge?
FDJ is overrated asf ffs. He's being kept out of the Barca side by two kids in Gavi and Pedri.
The fact that 58 year old Sergio Busquets keeps his place ahead of him too tells you all you need to know.
Valverde didn't trust FDJ in DM
Setien didn't trust FDJ in DM
Koeman didn't trust FDJ in DM
Xavi DOESN'T trust FDJ in DM
They can't all be wrong can they?!?!?!
It’s hardly surprising that FDJ is saying he wanted to stay there all along now the saga has ended. This is his tribe for the foreseeable future and he doesn’t want to get on the wrong side of them.
You could well be right of course but that isn't anything that I wouldn't expect him to say in his current circumstances. "I always wanted to stay at Barcelona in the Summer..." suggests that there could be a time frame as to how long he's going to be happy to stay

Absolute and utter nonsense. They still owe him money so he has no reason to be saying this. Barcelona even threatened legal action against his contract. After all that the player has come out to state he wants to stay. That tells me even with what they owe him, the player loves playing at Barcelona and had no intention to leave

Just my opinion. I'll take it at face value because it's come from him but during the Summer there was no way of knowing because he kept silent. If Ronaldo now says he's happy at OT would you believe that?

No I would not believe that and would call it waffle amidst my support of him.
His actions during the summer and turning up to training first day with his agent tells me he clearly wanted to leave. Without him or his agent ever saying a word, a lot of individuals here also proceeded to say he wanted to leave. How did these people know?
The actions of FDJ, the dire dealings of this club and past history of this happening led to my conclusion based on common sense. Ultimately, it does not matter how I got there, I was right!

I do refuse to believe there was nothing in the FDJ story though. I suspect had he not managed to find some resolution with Barca he would have been open to the possibility of joining us. We'll never fully know of course.
I do look forward to seeing him at OT in January though
I do look forward to seeing him at OT in January though
The wheeler dealers Barcelona just posted a profit, hahaha.
If FDJ leaves, it would be because Barcelona are no longer interested in his services and going by Xavi's selections, I do believe this is going to be the case.
If we do proceed to buy him, it also contradicts everything ETH has said about getting the ' right players and players that want to play for us.' He has come out, irrespective of circumstances he finds himself now to state clearly he had no intention of coming to us. Out of respect for us he did not have to do this, however he has which tells me this player probably choosing another side even if available.
Our only chance, pay him retirement money
I've no problem admitting I was wrong here. I thought that surely if the club are pursuing him this long that he had at least given some signs he would be willing to move.
In the end it lead to us overpaying for Antony and panic buying Casemiro who I don't think will be a good signing at all.
Well there’s no way of spinning this. Flat out embarrassing. Throughout the window most of me believed he would come. I believed he was playing the game, and doing right by him. Trying to force Barca to pay him off.
You don’t want got believe the other story. You can’t believe your club is that naive and stupid. Yet look what happened.
It’s a massive L. Only winning something will ease the pain of that. Whole thing is just bizarre.
But we’ll never hear an explanation for it.

"But look, the club has its own ideas and I have my own ideas, too, and sometimes these clash with each other. But at the end of the day things went okay."
