Ironic juxtaposition that you lot have all the realism on the pitch but little off it and we are the other way around?
Morelos will sign an extension. No other club is daft enough to sign him or pay him a wage.
If you don't get the offers you can't sell the players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'll be there forever.
(For the record I would have taken the £16.5m for Morelos offered by Lille, and said so on here at the time. That could have bought 2 or 3 decent replacements and probably still a few £££ left over)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We didn't reinvest much from either of our recent big sales so not sure this works in practice at the moment.
We're in a shape in which we need to do quite a big revamp next summer.
McGregor will surely be finished, McLaughlin proven he can't be a no1.
Helander...remember him? He's out of contract.
Tillman and Sands become buy options, wouldn't go near either as it stands.
Arfield, Davis, Jack all out of contract and only really Jack worth keeping if he can stay fit.
Kent and Morelos both off i think, Kent i'm sure of and Morelos won't be happy playing back up.
Kamara is looking to move on. All of which makes the lack of business in and out last summer more frustrating.
Rangers have failed to deal with too many big issues in the squad this season.
Kent and Morelos should have been put up for sale for £5m each if they refused to sign new deals. Cut our losses on players who have given half erchied showings this season and will leave for nothing at the end of the season.
Morelos has at least put some work in to get himself nearing a level of acceptable fitness.
Kent has just been embarrassing this season. Tuesday night was a new low for me. He lost a fairly straight forward 50/50 shoulder to shoulder challenge to Salah then just stopped, stood back and admired Salah as he strolled forward 20 yards completely unchallenged.
Then at full time Kent goes rushing over to Salah hugging him and grinning like a wee gimpy fanboy.
Hes an absolute fhud.

The club's policy is clearly not so simple as the one suggested. It's not a 'one size fits all' deal. Also players don't always want to sign new contracts, they're not always sellable and sometimes the best or only option in practice is for them to see out their contracts. As it is, I won't be too surprised if Kent or Morelos sign new deals.
Clearly can't afford to offer new bigger deals to the established players.
Remember they got excited because Tillman scored a header?
They put up a "can you jump as high as Tillman" stand
Kent’s been too busy shooting promo vids for his band…

Blue Heaven
Issue for me is not the unsellable players, nor guys in mid-late 30's , but guys like Kent who would have got us maybe £8-10m in the summer, have clearly no wish to extend, and will walk for nothing in June.
Hence the reason why players running down their contracts are no longer listed as assets in the accounts.
When that came in I couldn’t think of a more stupid way to “massage” the numbers and pretty much all clubs are guilty of it. Mental accounting practice.

Did anybody bid £8-10 million for Kent in the summer? I'm sure the club weighs everything up e.g. trying to qualify for the CL. We'll see what happens.
Squads need to be freshened up....we have failed to do that for at least 3 transfer windows now.
Personally, I'd have let Goldson leave in the summer if that's what he wanted to do, thin the only reason he stayed was because he didn't get a better offer.
I wouldn't have given Davis a new deal, wouldn't have given Arfield a new deal, and would have made the decision to let McGregor go too.
The impotence would then have been there to get new players in for these positions......instead we have hung onto to too many guys we shouldn't have, many of them now showing their age, and we are over relying on them performing for us at the highest of levels.
You need to freshen up when the time is right.
The bulk of the key players in this squad have been with us for 4+ years, and some of them have been wanting away for the last 2 seasons at least......the hunger, drive, enthusiasm and effort levels have dropped off with many of these guys as a result of that.
I would have also sought to come to some sort of arrangement with the perma-injured guys like Helander and Roofe....and Souttar
Enough is enough with these guys. They are never going to be fit enough long enough to be first team regulars.
They are just a distraction.
We brought in 7 new players for this season, 6 of them internationalists. Some of them might yet come good. Again, we'll see!

You are right - we brought in seven new players....although Souttar injured, Yilmaz not yet seen, Tillman great at the start but faded badly recently, Davies only now getting a game, Matondo unconvincing so far, and only Colak and Lawrence could be claimed as successful acquisitions at this stage. Being honest....2 success stories out of 7 is not a great return. We took in £29m in fees, and spent £16m
Not writing anyone off yet but there will be a bit of work to do in the January window I suspect
