I used to really like Duncan. Very underrated. And part of our season in the old 2nd division, which I enjoyed so much. Just thinking today back to the game at Brighton that season, a game I was at , when Spurs fans wrecked the Goldstone in a 3-1 defeat.

62 goals in 120 appearances is not too shabby.

I’m just pleased that some of our fans remember him.

As a star struck just, I was in awe of him.

He was brilliant in the air & a lethal finisher.

He also managed Chesterfield, when they got to the FA Cup semi finals, back in the 90’s.

Anyone else remember him?

Sandy… I love nostalgia mate…

I remember us having 5 strikers at the time… John Duncan, Chris Jones, Gerry Armstrong, Ian Moores, Colin Lee…, & even Martin Robinson played up front that season….

None were a patch on John… the rest were pretty awful, in fact!!!

Great player and very underrated by many. Scored on average I every two games which is better than some so called stars in todays game.

He was 73 years old today. Fancy dying on your bath date, very sad and I hope he rests in peace.

I stood on the Shelf when Colin Lee scored four on his debut against Bristol Rovers and Ian Moores scored a hat-trick in the 9-0 win. The good old days. I enjoy going to Spurs now, but not nowhere as much as back in the days of the terraces.

Yeh he was just nearly a year younger than me. Sad really. I will be 74 in December.

A good Dundee man. Inducted into our hall of fame in 2015 to join Gilzean. A bit of a Dundee Spurs connection

He was a regular on local radio in the Sheffield/Derbyshire area during his two spells as Manager of Chesterfield. He was highly regarded by their fans and many rang in to the local footy phone-in tonight to pass on their condolences.

RIP John Duncan

My first game at WHL was Spurs vs Cardiff in the old second division. Duncan scored both goals.
