Liverpool were naive but at least they came and tried to play unlike Tottenham.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We did outplay you in the 1st half and more than matched in the last 20mins of first half, but then we committed a suicide, and gave you the game. Sending off helped you a lot. Funny thing is that Martinelli who rolled around when Emerson tackled him and got sent off for it, did a similar tackle and got away with it.

Swings and roundabouts. I am happy of where we are. We will click again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are delusional. Denial and Delusion is a wonderful thing. I can do the same too. If we didn't go down to 10 men after 20 mins last season in the second NLD or condeded a pen, we would have battered you like we did at the Emirates because we were still in the game, there was a good 70 minutes to go which means we could have battered you 5-2 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But you didn't, and that's why you are not playing with the big boys in the CL. Stick to Thursday night footie. More your level.

Hmm no...We do turn up in NLDs and history clearly says the home advantage is telling in NLD. The home side rarely loses.

I am merely asking where is Liverpool are at this season, but Arsenal fans are crowing a lot after beating Liverpool so it is hard to argue with them when they are wearing double tinted goggles

Let's wait and see

I'm talking about their style which is yeilding good results. Put the rivalary aside like a grown up, we would love to be playing that type of football but we are on a different path which the fans including me, have accepted.

And don't talk about amnesia, Arsenal whooped our bums only last week. Again worthy winners.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are you blabbing about dude? I praised Arsenal for their style - check few comments prior. But you forget Spurs are also an entertaining side. We were freely scoring right up until recently.

Mane not at Liverpool makes a real difference.
He is not there to assault Arsenal players blatantly and get away with it

I think Spurs are entertaining. They still score freely, and the perception that they don't entertain all the time, is media driven nonsense.

Liverpool are at that "end of a cycle" stage, with Klopp facing at least a part squad rebuild. At this moment, you have to say, when looking at the other big 6 players, coupled with perhaps Newcastle, their CL place is now in doubt.
Salah in particular continues to get the media sports wash. The reaction from the match commentator at his utter shock that Klopp hooked him was rediculous. Does he actually understand football ? fact is Salah has been virtually invisible since the last Aftrica Nations, and is now treading water 100% living on reputation. Liverpool fans won't like what I say....but they know this also.

As for Arsenal. I have said this before and will say it again. There is an across the board Let's hype them up movement in the media. We are just 4 points behind them, are compeating in a much higher level European competition, yet all I ever read is how Spurs are playing poorly and are rubbish to watch. Yet Arsenal are, apparently the dogs dinner, and accorrding to that wonderful journo McNulty, are title challengers. Obviously the likes of Keowne and Merson have been telling us that since the first ball was kicked on opening day.
But let's look at the actual relevant details of yesterday:
Arsenal possession - 44% ( was 32% in the first half ) Can you imagine Spurs getting away with that in the media ? nah, they would be all over it like a rash.
Two questionable penalties, both going in Arsenal's favour.
That "best striker in the world who has transformed Arsenal" bloke Jesus....did not actually score ( again ) and actually pretended he was knocked out to get someone sent off. Setting aside all the hype, coupled with all the doom and gloom around Spurs, facts are he has 5 goals and Kane has 8. Reading the daily headlines you would think it was the other way round.
In the last 10 minutes Arsenal were literally hanging on. Is that a good look for the PL champions elect ?
Then there is Arteta, the single biggest hyped individual at the club. Once again he gets away with constantly leaving his technical area, regularly running at least 20 yards down the touchline, waving his arms at everyone. That is, as far as I know, still not aloud in football, yet there he is, getting away with it week after week.
Then there is his overall record as their manager. When I hear the media "talk" I assume he is at least on a par with Pep and Klopp ? in the immortal word of Jim on Vicar of Dibley....yes, yes, yes, yes........no
Yeah, in 4 and a bit seasons he has achieved 8th, 8th & 5th, whilst handing CL to his biggest rivals. Conte, on the other hand, continues to receive daily media stick for his management, yet in less that one season has taken Spurs from nowhere to CL footie, and now a clear 3rd, losing just one game, mainly due to a harsh red card. A much worse tackle yesterday on TAA, by the way, that conveniently went unpunished.

A tonge in cheek post I know, but it just shows you. If I can spend 2 minutes illustrating several obvious flaws in Arsenal's "title challenge" why can't the media ??

Setting all that aside, every man and his dog knows City will walk it, and I do look forward to all those whining "top gooners" coming out of the woodwork around April time, telling us all how unlucky they were.

The only place you read Spurs are playing poorly or are boring to watch is on this forum. Point me to these ENDLESS articles you seem to be reading?

Of course Arsenal are being praised by the media. We're 25% of the way into the season and they are top of the league. What do you honestly expect? Just ignore them and hope they go away?

Stop this needless craving for praise. We're doing okay and from everything I read, the media agrees with that. We're not stellar but we're not awful either.

Great post Steve. It`s laughable that Arsenal are getting all the media hype, whereas Spurs have been a top four side for most of the past decade, yet they get none. I don`t notice the media saying how entertaining Spurs have been in 2022, being the 2nd top goalscorers behind City in the Prem. Course not. They are too busy brownnosing Arteta now after a few wins.

posted on 10/10/22

Lots of talk Steve but until you win a trophy that's all it is...talk. All clubs are subject to this and we had to endure if for years.

posted on 10/10/22

There is still a `Sky 4` group of the medias favourite clubs, hence the fawning over the likes of Woolwich, Pool, United and Chelsea.

Of the perceived `big 6` clubs, Spurs and City are noticeably talked about differently to the other 4. But this is a by-product of having a media infested with pundits from said clubs.
