Dont agree, I don't think Im exaggerating when I say that Coquelin's performance against Tottenham was the best by an Arsenal defensive midfielder since Flamini left us. (I'm not saying Song is bad or anything, I'm just saying Coquelin is THAT good)
I prefer Coquelin, he's got a better engine and he ain't stupid.
from reserve highlights coq always seemed a better player than frimmers
two very different midfielders, i hate to say but I see a bit of Vieira in frimpong (dont like making player comparisions) in the sense hes strong and built well, hes quick and excellent defensively, hes not too shabby attacking (well only got a decent shot nothing else) but defo needs to work on passing
coq on the other hand likes to run more and put players under pressure, frimpong does this but not as much, Coq is also much more intelligent on how he moves and marks people out the game much like flamini in his last season
quesiton is, which is better in our current system?
id say coq currently as our defence just needs someone who adds stability, thing is against teams like stoke i can imagine him being trounced
in fairness im making statements which only really have about 3-4 games worth of backing up, but thats what i see from them both and id say both could become very valuable assets to our team
the only player i see with vieira in him is... Aneke, the boy is very strong and quite tall aswell, loves the physical side... he has mentionad on the arsenal website recently that he admires diaby. so lets hope he turns out a better version than him
When is Kos back?
As Wenger insists on playing a 4-2-3-1 I'd actually like to see them playing together for a few games, if Song continues to play at CB. With Arteta in front of them.
Together they bring all of the qualities to hopefully form a top class defensive midfield. Their passing and decision making need some work maybe, but otherwise I've been really impressed by what I've seen from both of them so far. Apart from Ches, nobody has outshone them in the whole of the squad!
Song and Coq as the DM's if any 2 of Kos/Verm/Mert are fit and able. Song and Wilshere as 1st choice if he ever comes back!
