Anyone who is calling for Gio to be sacked doesnt have a clue IMO.
He has two objectives this year.

he has already achieved the first, we are 2 point behind in the league with 2 OF's still to be played at Ibrox.

He can in a way but I don't think uis job should depend on it
Domestically he should get this season and we all know what the judgement is from that pov
the issued I'd have with GvB is after a year I still don't know what his teams are trying to achieve especially away from home
there's no real identity in the style of play

we set up differently from Ross County to Hearts , cos they have different players, different weaknesses, different strengths.
I didnt think it would be too hard to figure out.
I don't mind getting beat
It's the manner of the defeats that's making me question Gio
That last night wasn't just a better quality side putting us to the sword......it was a complete and utter capitulation from a team in the second half of a match that they were more than holding their own in against a very good side
This isn't the first time either that the team has basically flung the towel in when we have went 3 goals down...we did the same thing at both Celtic Park and in Ajax
Last time we capitulated as badly as we have under Gio was before Gerrard....so from that point of view, we've went backwards
"but every manager has a style of play "
do they , Ancelotti says that he changes with the team he inherits. He doesnt have a set in the mud philosophy, he looks at the squad he has and that dictates how he is gonna play and set the team up.
I have said already Ross Wilson carries much more of the can for the CL performances.
Gio basically said he was looking forward to adding more quality to the squad after the PSV game, then.......nothing.
Anyone who looked at our squad and thought a midfield of Lundstram plus a wantaway Kamara, a half fit Jack and ageing players like Davis and Arfield was going to be anywhere near good enough is deluded.
I agree that some of Gios team selections have been concerning. His perseverance with Scott Wright for so long is just baffling. He is clearly out of his depth playing for Rangers at Ibrox against the likes of Dundee United and Hibs yet Gio starts him in CL games.
As well as Tillman and Sakala you can look at Kent (who has been awful but on the whole appeared undroppable) and Sands (who made the crowd nervous, he made Goldson nervous and he was a red card waiting to happen).
For me the big issues with the squad were never dealt with in the summer and that is Ross Wilsons fault.
I am also on the fence about Gio. I am not convinced he has what it takes to win us a league. But I wouldnt be sacking him off the back of the CL results.
Its like sacking the Ross County manager just because they lost all the games against the OF over the course of the season. If Rangers are doing OK domestically (which we are) then there is no reason to move Gio on.
I will say that the next OF game is MASSIVE for Gio though.

I don't care who we are playing mate
Losing 6 goals in one half, just isn't acceptable
Losing Goldson made us weaker....Gio done fck all to combat it....left a guy with 4 games under his belt and a young lad badly exposed at the back, due to our complete incapability to pick the correct pass out from the back
He also kept Colak on the pitch when he was getting absolutely no change out of Van Dijk and Konate in terms of battling to win the long ball forward....we know that's one of Morelos strengths, he is sitting there on the bench and we are 4-1 down before that penny drops
The difference between the sides in terms.of quality and level can only account for so much.......players and management need to take the criticism for a lot of it though
Simply won't accept that we could not have done anything to stop us getting absolutely trounced 7-1 at Ibrox last night....I'm never buying that argument
I have said already Ross Wilson carries much more of the can for the CL performances.

Agree with this. In some ways Gio has almost being punished for overreaching and getting us to the CL. Had we lost 1-0 to PSV there would have been no shame and we would probably be pretty steady in the Europa whilst being well in it in the league and still in the cups. No huge dramas other than a bad OF defeat.
By qualifying for the CL we have been exposed and are well out our depth. He's carrying the can for that when the reality is the squad shouldn't be at that level. Is it fair he gets the bullet for overachieving and us getting found out?
There's also a part with last night where the tactics were clearly not an issue at ht. Everyone was happy. The second half was in my view down to individuals chucking it after going behind. Is that the Managers fault? Not like he then has the opportunity of a team talk before full time at that stage.
managers are not above criticism, but we have to be realistic.
personally i think ange is naive to think we can go into a CL game with maeda and taken it to teams without being a little bit reserved. He doesn't adapt his style for anything and i think that's quite single minded.
Agree JFK, although from a Rangers perspective I don't think there's such a big difference in standard between being Europa finalists and potentially the worst team ever to play in the CL.
We beat Dortmund and Liepzig last season - over 2 legs as well, not like a one off game - who are both competing well at this standard. I don't expect us to qualify and expected 4th place would be realistically where we finished but I didn't expect every game to be an absolute going over.
