I'm no doubt biased but I feel many are writing off Gerrard too early.
Apparently the loss of Beale his head coach has not helped but he did a more than decent job at Rangers and not just domestically.
Villa were not exactly pulling up trees when he went there, that's why the job became available.
Most will say Moyes is a good manager now and he has had some right stinkers.

I'm not writing him off being a decent manager but I don't think he'd be good enough for LFC and where they'd want to be when Klopp leaves.

Michael Beale was the main reason behind Rangers' Gerrard success... Beale went on to be the QPR Mgr. (who today turned down Wolves)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sure Gerrard would have wanted Beale, ideally, but I don’t think they’d be sitting much higher than they are right now with him assisting Gerrard, tbh. Is Beale SO good that Villa would be 7th-8th with him there? I doubt it.
I feel like I’ve heard this before about the number two being the “real brains” behind the operation but rarely is it actually the case, imo.
People said City would miss Arteta, they haven’t, Buvac was Klopp’s coach before Lijnders and was said to be the man behind the success, turns out he wasn’t, people thought Brian Kidd leaving us would throw a spanner in the works, we won the treble, Kidd relegated Blackburn.
Maybe John Terry til the end if the season

I'm relieved about that. Kept hearing Gerrard 24 before Klopps new contract but he would never have been ready for the LFC job. I don't really want legends managing us. Always got to be someone external and with a pedigree rather than someone local and emotional.
He will get another job soon enough. Looks at fat Frank who's failing in his 3rd job.

I’m gutted it we didn’t get the chance to finish him off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Because Ole was finished off by Liverpool you wanted to return the favour?
Villa were not exactly pulling up trees when he went there, that's why the job became available
====
Gerrard actually saved them because without the upturn in results in the few games after he joined they would have gone down anyway.

I think that’s pushing it slightly.
They had 10pts from 11 games when they sacked Dean Smith last season.
They now have 9pts from 11 games.
They've done the right thing sacking a manager out of his depth as Gerrard was going to relegate them.

He joined quite early in the season. A better manager may have done far better. It’s not like they were in the relegation zone with 10 games left.
Truss and Gerrard - both gone because they relied too heavily on their #2.
