It feels to me like he was a club signing, but that Ole was happy to have him. With hindsight, I imagine that Ole will wish that he never returned, as we weren't the same team after he did.

I'd agree. I've heard stories from reliable journos that it was 100% a club signing and Ole was left bemused in private but who knows.

A bunch of them left early, Ronaldo had just returned after not finding a new club and was sucky. Maybe he didn't want to play.
