I think Savage is quite funny because he’s an absolute troll, but he is fully aware of it and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.

Much more palatable, to my taste, than a Danny Murphy, Jermaine Jenas, Martin Keown, Garth Crooks, etc. who doppelgäng as some great students of the game; erudite in all things playing, managing, coaching, reffing, and owning a football club, all whilst spouting utter balls.

Martinez was at risk of being suspended for Sociedad if he was booked, I think, so makes sense.

Marcus’s speed on the counter (because surely Sheriff will need to come out now) might also have been a consideration, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the spin had something to do with it
