Didn't hear the boos. I thought there was quite a lot of support for him. Are you sure you weren't mishearing shouts of "shoot"?

No I didn’t hear them myself. I was listening to the Athletics Talk of the Devils podcast (always a good listen) and they discussed it.
He’s become the United panto villain who’s taking the heat off any of the other non-performers imo
Thought I heard some booing a few times when he was on the ball.
I don't think he's been good enough of late, but I wouldn't boo him just for playing football. It benefits us far more if he can get back into form for when needed.
Sounded to me that the crowd was overwhelmingly supportive of Maguire. There were indeed ironic shouts of 'shoot!' whenever he received the ball in Sheriff's half.
He has been poor but it's also how he reacted to the criticism. Blaming teammates and being a little cocky.
Didn't hear any but if he was, that's bang out of order.
This is absolute nonsense. He was cheered and people kept shouting ‘shooooot’ when he had the ball but he was given a good reception.

the best was when he cupped his ears after scoring a goal for England when he was
-Poor defensively
-Poor for Man utd and not England
I suspect that the animosity towards Maguire stems more from the suspected leaks from his camp and the silly comments by his brother criticising the club.

They weren’t referring to when he was on the ball, it was more when it was announced he was coming on.

Even then, I thought he got a good reception. It was even mentioned in the commentary. Unless I missed something?
Sounded to me like the crowd were urging him to shoot, having said that, it’d be pretty optimistic to do that from where he was at the time
No matter how useless and slow a player is he shouldn't be booed. It's more the teams fault. You cannot be blamed for being born a slabhead.
No United player should be booed by United fans for not playing well.
Noy trying, wanting away perhaps, but even then it's probably not a good idea.
Sometimes us fans make jokes of Maguire of his increased errors as of late - but he should never be booed on the pitch.
He just came back from a long term injury and was alright. Fans should stop scrutinizing every single move he makes and simply support him.
Confidence is everything in a player and Maguire desperately needs fans support to help boosting his confidence.
Sounds like these reports of booing are exaggerated and at worst isolated pockets in the crowd. Scholes and Hargreaves, in between moaning about Antony, commented on the good reception Maguire received from the crowd.

Totally agreed. I’ve never booed a UTD player.
Booed poor performances sure… raged about players that shouldn’t be starting, sure.
But would never single out a player while he’s playing.
Course it don’t help.
And he was quiet, and yes it was only Sheriff, but he did well in his first game in a long time.
It obviously benefits us to have Maguire playing well.
He still shouldn’t be Captain though. Take the heat off him. Let him just concentrate on his game.
Maybe he likes them booing him
