What have you seen since his return from injury? Lile 2 starts.

We need homegrown players regardless of what you think of him and sessegnon.

Players who are not homegrown who we have signed like Emerson, Sanchez and the Bissouma we have seen so far are far more of an issue than worrying about skipp who's is young with not much proven so far, might go same way as another academy player

Read the article properly I am not singling him out. I said if as expected Conte strengthens his midfield, Skipp will slip further down the pecking order.

Yes, he may have only been back for a few games, but he looks a long way off the pace. Didn`t Conte sub him at half-time yesterday, so he obviously thinks the same.

It's too early to say. He did well last season, got injured, then we strengthened in his position making it more difficult for him. And now is only just starting to see some game time again.

There is room for someone to cement a starting place because performances from our midfielders are a bit patchy, with Bentancur arguably being the best of the bunch. PEH is good but not brilliant and Bissouma hasn't met expectations yet. If we bring in a creative mid like we should this leaves less room. Depends how much Skipp wants it really.

Had a decent first game and poor second. Very reactionary.

I personally don`t see him forcing his way back in as a regular. He may prove me wrong, but even right now PEH and Bentancur are nailed on starters, and I am sure there is more to come from Bissouma. Plus any new players that may come in January, ie attacking midfielders. So where would that leave Skipp?

Skipp's solid. Nothing spectacular. Good for rotation and competition but he's got better players in front of him atm.

Winks was an England international, he’ll do well to go the same way.

There will be enough games and sub possibilities for him to play in. Providing he has more good games than bad then he won't be like Winks.

I have done an article on him because this is a football forum, and I am asking the question if he is going to slip further down the pecking order if new midfielders are purchased. That is not singling him out, that is just asking a question. Have I said he is rubbish or anything like that?

Winks played over 200 games for Spurs and got ten caps for England. He’ll do well to achieve that, especially with Spurs being a lot richer now and able to invest significant funds in strengthening midfield over the coming years.

Yeh squad place at best I reckon. But I don`t see him starting many. Most games Spurs are must wins. He will probably start again in the Carabou, but I think his Prem starts and CL starts will be very limited from hereonin.

He actually played 128 games, which is half what you are suggesting, and lots of them were as subs.

posted on 30/10/22

That was in the premier league, it was 203 in all competitions. Obviously many will have been subs, but it’s still a significant amount.

No shame him not being top class at the moment. Kids come back from an injury too. Question I think should be is it in Skipp/Spurs interest to send him on loan, if game time at the right tram would speed up his development.

Plenty of players, if they have the versatility and IQ, can adapt and be moulded into new roles/positions, so maybe Conte thinks it's better he trains with the squad and gets the odd game.

Not uncommon for players his age to suddenly kick on, especially after an injury. Some players also need a few games back to back to find their best form.

The kid knows Contes system, and the role he's asked to do, and people under estimate how valuable that is. Could take a better, new signing some time to get upto speed in that area. Even if spurs sign players I wouldn't sell.

Skipp's a good player. Question is what are out midfield duo/trio being asked to do at the moment.

He's as good as early Winks at progressing the ball without being exceptional at it, and less good than Bentacur.
He's a good ball winner, but not as strong in the tackle as PEH.
He's better at reading the defensive game than both (or at, least showed that he could be pre-injury)

He's a good option that needs time and game time to improve where he's currently at (same for Sarr, who who could do with being let on the pitch at some point)

On paper, long term options for centre midfield of Skipp, Bentacur, Bissouma and Sarr could be solid/quality. But each of them need coaching to get there.

How many has Skipp played already? Sounds realistically achievable given his age. I mean the England caps aren't much to boast about.

58 and he’s 22. Winks played 203 by 26. Seems unlikely to me given what’s ahead of him and who the manager is.

Was never convinced by him pre injury TBH.... Outside of a good season on loan at Norwich i dunno what all the fuss is about. Neat and tidy but not much else. Not as good as PEH or Bissouma in the deep role and nowhere near the quality of bentancur to play as the most advanced of a 3.

Good squad player but nothing more.... wouldn't get anywhere near the midfields of any of our rivals for a top 4 spot

Just out of intrigue, if City are a shoe in, which midfielder is he a worse squad rotation of outside the top 4 as a youngster still learning his trade is he much worse than?

posted on 30/10/22

It is way too early to tell whether Skipp will regain his previous form.
If anyone can help him do that, it is Conte.
ATM Conte is trying him out.
We'll see how he plays in the coming weeks.
I'm hoping he becomes our version of Kevin de Bryune.
We sure need one of those!!
And Bissouma ain't it.
