BTW I’m not being defeatist and believe we can win this thing, my point being we’ll probably have to beat a good side or two at some stage to do so.
This is the first season topping a europa league group is massively beneficial and we messed up due to wasteful finishing and VAR. Hard to believe we beat Omonia by 2 goals when we had like 50 shots more than them.😂

Yeah but that logic falls short when it's literally two extra games so winning the group meant we certainly wouldn't have had to beat one then.
In 2017, we didn't face any good sides and won the tournament. It's the only time we've won it so avoiding good sides isn't a bad thing. Avoiding them in a round you don't even have to participate in is extremely desirable. But it is what it is
True but I suppose when February comes we’ll have a greater picture of where we are in the league also and will know how serious we have to take it.
Tbh Barca, Juve and Ajax are the only teams dropping down that are stronger than what's already in it. And that's even debatable in the case of Ajax and Juve. Just adds to fixture congestion though
It’s the extra games that are the bigger issue. Would could conceivably go out in the next round to a Europa team, it is a cup competition. But it’s just annoying that we’ll have to play two extra game in this ridiculous season if we do progress.
I’m sure we’ll be out of the League Cup and the FA Cup by then, so I wouldn’t unduly worry.
