Social media is a force for both good and bad. It really does come down to the intelligence of the user. There are plenty of good sources on Twitter and I’ve actually learnt a lot more about the world and politics on there. Now however it seems it’s going to be far more hate filled and unmoderated than before and that in itself will drive away all the intelligent and reasonable people and leave behind a swamp that hopefully gets shut down and teaches Musk a very valuable lesson

Indeed. But the problem is that many people aren’t intelligent. Combine this with sophisticated targeting that we saw in the us 2016 us election and Brexit (good old Cambridge analytics) it becomes propaganda. You don’t see much of that on the regulated media, BBC etc, though they’ve been under the cosh from the tories to not be impartial, but on SM I’ts a free for all.

It’s the last place I’d look for the truth., ironically if you live in a place that doesn’t have regulated impartial media, then it actually might be where you do find some truth. And that paradox gives birth to the likes of qanon fruitcakes…

I think many people do not even watch/reed nrews anymore.
