Defensive problems are still very clear to see.

Going to need an awful lot of luck and opposition wasting chances if we are to scrape 4th.

that charity match with ksi in etc had better quality

Are you ever going to stop moaning ffs, it’s painful.

u happy with that performance and the performance of firmino etc? ofc im gna moan at it, it was awful and not acceptable. Fortunately we were 2-0 up but that was a worrying performance vs 10 men. They could have scored 3-4 vs us with 10 men ffs.

8th now but would have been 7th if we scored one more. Should have taken these chances at the end. Good win nonetheless

Gakpo..Nunez scoring Salah setting up a goal, the new attack looking good now

The problems didn't appear until the sending off though.

Not true- they had a one on one with Alisson and another clear chance in the first 5 mins alone.

Clinical when 11 vs 11 but utterly wasteful when it was 10 vs 11. Job done in the first 20 minutes and onwards and upwards.

Bar City perhaps there are no great shakes in the top four, they will all drop more points, if we can put a run together we stand a chance of top four…

Big win, concerning performance.

Even at our best we’ve been poor against ten men. It’s all about the result in these situations, and considering where we were two weeks ago any Liverpool should be delighted.

Declaring it as unacceptable is ridiculous.

Newcastle not lost at home all season...its a fantastic win for us. Dont demean this result because they went down to 10...they were down to ten because of our great play.

posted on 18/2/23

It's all about building confidence in our intricate play. Firmino was very good in linking our play even though he made some sloppy passes.

Away win at a top 4 rival, inflicting their first loss since August, ending their club record undefeated run and handing them their first loss at home all season.

Match thread - somewhat downbeat

Even down to 10 ten, newcastle were always going to fight for the points and they’re a decent side. Were we great, nope. A wins a win though and the points were desperately important.

Personally, I’m happy.

I think Liverpool are very fortunate Newcastle had Nick Pope sent off. If it had been 11 v 11, it would have been a different score.

They were 2 nil down with pope still.on the field

Yes it would - a more emphatic score for us. We basically reduced our intensity after they went down to 10.

talk about bias as always, Lee Dixon commentating on NSB sports was desperate for Newcastle to win, mind you he is not the only one

Liverpool never worked up a sweat in the 2nd half.

Great result.

I hope the stress of watching that rubbish pays off for us on Tuesday.

Great start, then stopped playing for 20mins when Pope was off (rightly)

saw it out but they were not ruthless and sadly newcastle have ran their best players into the ground stupidly.

no its not, watching a professional footballer on 180k a week coming off the bench vs 10 men and lose it so easily 5 + times in a row its played into him is unacceptable. imo anyway. shocking. And if its acceptable we're facked.

Maybe it lulled the watching Real Madrid into a false sense of security and we can sucker punch em
