Dropping Sterling for Grealish would be a terrible decision. I don’t know why people still question the bloke in an England shirt, he delivers time and time again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf Grealish’s tap in was most definitely 100% better than anything Sterling did

I get why Southgate plays him as he stretches play , picks up good positions and links well with Kane
My only issue with him is his decision making but that maybe a form thing ? Chelsea aren’t settled at the moment and he has been playing various positions
He plays him because he’s arguably our best player.
Was good to see the subs make an impact (apart Foden which doesn’t surprise me).
They could be very important for us this tournament because we do have good options that can change a game. They are all quite different players as well which is a good thing for a manager.

England really are spoilt for choice in those three positions behind Kane. Just as I was trying to figure out where Rashford, Grealish and Foden were actually going to play, Rashford got it on the right and scored.
I like Foden. I think he’s a class player but it’s not happened yet for him with England. Still, if injuries etc meant we had to start him in a big game, I’d be pretty confident he could do well.
I think attacking mid is a problem. It may not look it on paper but Mount is crap, Foden and Grealish rarely play there at club level and they haven’t performed for England either, and Maddison has no experience in this England team.
I wouldn’t start Foden in a big game because we have better performing player for the national team. As I said, if we need to change the midfield I’d be bringing in Phillips to release Bellingham.

Yes, the 10 spot maybe… I’d like to see Maddison personally.
I suppose a more solid 433 with Bellingham plus Rice and Phillips might be the way in the bigger games. Funnily enough, despite Southgate’s more defensive leanings, I can’t see him going for that.

Edin, yeah definitely. I think having the freedom to get forward was a big reason why. I don’t think having him sitting suits him, needs to be able to break froward from deep positions. He’s a bit like Pogba from what I’ve seen. It’s why I’d like to see Phillips in midfield with him and Rice.
foden has been molded to city, thats his 'issue'
