It's definitely not a no brainer. We won't have the funds to get him in January after our expenditure in the summer. His price keeps rising too with every world cup goal and he plays Qatar next.

Why won’t we have the funds?
I've read several analyses that conclude he's an elite talent and also that he's far better playing on the left, and lacks some of the qualities ETH requires of a CF.
So I think he's good enough for us, but the question is whether he's an efficient investment in terms of net squad improvement. I'd say it's a no-brainer that if a true number 9 of similar talent were available, he would be the smarter buy.
Best emerging striker in Europe if we get him.
Overrated winger if we don't.
I have never seen him play
If there is one thing United need it is another attacking mid/come wide forward player
I'm not sure he's that good.
The Glazers will now enter the asset stripping cycle of their ownership prior to selling. Don’t expect any incoming transfers unless they are loan deals.

He doesn't need to be that good so long as he's productive. Look at the striker you signed in the summer, he's hardly a master of the dribble and wasn't signed to be one

Sorry, if I wasn't clear, I'm not sure Gakpo is that good at football full stop and won't be that productive in the prem.
World cups are no place to judge players - currently Enner Valencia, Richarlison and Maguire all look mint

You reckon it's a net gain to the Glaziers if they try to sell the business after stripping it of assets, thereby setting back its sporting potential and merchandising value over the short term?
Gapko gets goals, bring him in
Looks a good player but can he play as a lone number 9?
If he can’t it would be a pointless signing. We’ve plenty of options out wide.

Not having a go but that’s one of the laziest arguments in football imo.
I like him a lot. His performances so far at this tournament have probably put a sizeable chunk on his transfer fee however.
I dont think clubs are so short sighted that they would try and lump on significant amounts to fees, kust as they wouldnt reduce a fee significantly.if a player had a poor tournament.
if Glazers are serious about selling up completely, and if there are suitable and potential suitors queuing up to buy as we are being led to believe then the Glazers wont be investing in United this January... they will be unscrewwing the lightbulbs from the fittings at OT and Carrington more like.

Exactly. No way the Glazer strip assets before a sale. The value of United increases with its aggregated assets. In fact if they buy a couple of players and secure CL, they will get a better price.

Because it was apparently said that we spent more in summer than we were happy with. Do you think they go drop another 45-50m on a striker in January? Dont see it.
Signing players based on WC performances?
We need a cf not another left winger.
