To get the most out of the competition you need the best teams in it.
----'
You have.
But you also want a good representation of the world, not just football hotspots like Europe.

In in terms of taking away the barriers I mean the qualification stages.
No set number of teams from any continent. Again this strengthens the competition. If teams from Asia are not good enough then they dont get in. By raising the standards to get into the comp you in turn raise the quality of the comp and in turn the benefits of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a world cup though. That's the point of it. You could do the same with the olympics where the whole 100m sprint field is just Jamaican sprinters.
10 different Chinese teams fighting it out for gold in the gymnastics?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes so let the whole world compete fairly.
All teams there on merit and not just where they are located.
if they are good enough they qualify ..simples.
To get the most out of the competition you need the best teams in it. If were really talking about "enjoying the world" cup which is what the thread in about then this is is IMO.
People wanna see the best competition, they wanna see the best teams. Im purely talking about in terms of the thread title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But who are the best teams? Belgium are the best according to the rankings!

What a game this morning!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Love it 😂😂😂😂
If you put weaker teams in a competition it becomes weaker.
-----
Not necessarily. You can make it bigger without making it weaker. It would be weaker of you replaced good teams with weak teams, but adding weak teams to the already present strong teams doesn't necessarily weaken the competition.
Furthermore, there'll be straight knockouts from the round of 32. That should properly put the cat among the pigeons and make for possibly the best world cup ever.

the teams that beat the other teams are better.
get rid of rankings, let there be an open world draw fr qualifying.
by in large all the best teams will be there and there will also be some wild cards through luck of the draw.
stops it becomming stale also, more variety.
rather than seeing Scotland play Israel 5/6 times over 2 years !
keep the regional stuff for the regional tournaments
One minute you want the best teams there, now you want luck of the draw to potentially mean top teams miss out and crap teams get through on the basis of a lucky draw??

well lluck of the draw in terms of qualyfying groups.
perhaps getting rid of the seedings wouldnt work in that regards so you could be correct.
but 100% get rid of regional qualifiers for it.
Imagine a q group of Brazil, Argentina, France and Spain and another of Guatemala, San Marino, Tahiti and Turkmenistan with 1 going through. Losing 3 great teams from the WC based on luck of draw would be horrendous for the tournament.
the only reason i thought of getting rid of seedings was to try and diversify the draws rather than always playing against the same teams time and again.
But by opening the world up I suppose there is less chance of that even with the rankings and seedings
I would however get rid of seedings for the final stages of the World cup. Keep them for qualifying I suppose, but 100% get rid of them once you get to the world cup proper
Open draws don’t really help smaller nations either when they’d so often just end up playing pointless friendlies.
What a game. The Africans have provided so much entertainment. We should probably get rid of the barriers to entertaining teams qualifying so we could get 15 entertaining teams from Africa in place of boring European teams like England, Greece, Switzerland etc. IT would really improve the overall entertainment level which is what everyone wants. If all teams end up being from Africa then so be it.
WOW AFRICAN TEAMS. GET BORING EUROPEAN TEAMS OUT OF MY WORLD CUP
Another dull Asian/African game.
I just to thank myself for breathing life into this tournament. You're welcome all.

I could have told you it would be boring before a ball was kicked. International football is pretty sub standard in the modern era, due to the fact practically everyone that can kick a football gets capped.
Watched a bit, and only Croatia and France have really impressed me. I will be very surprised if France do not retain the trophy.
Cannot wait for the Prem to restart.

Sandy, Prem is not up to the standard of the best games in this WC.
Teams worth watching include Brazil, France, Serbia, Spain and maybe, just maybe, England.

Not sure I agree with that. The best of the PL, like the other top leagues and obviously the CL, surpass international football now and have done for a while. As you’d probably expect, given how much time clubs get together as compared to countries.
