Always amazes me how well spoken US sports people are. I watch a lot of College American Football and even at that level at the age of 18-21 they speak really really well and with confidence.

You then see some of our British chaps and it is painful to watch half the time. No idea why that is.

Something to do with the respective education systems I think.

Is it not to do with most American sports players will complete high school / college (aka to 18) while English sports players invariably drop out of school after GCSEs.

Specifically that if you have a sporting talent it’s often a your ticket to education in the states. The college sports scene is hugely popular and the primary route to a lot of professional sport. In the most part they genuinely complete studies whilst pursuing sport.

Being a big lump who can catch an oval ball or pull an oar might help you in certain establishments over here. But if you show an ounce of football talent, you get tied up by a club at 8, if you look a genuine prospect your dad/uncle gets a ‘scouting job’. And you will leave school at 16.

It is simply because of who they interview nothing more nothing less, Bamford always comes across as intelligent and articulate, likewise Walcott and many others. For every Tyler Adams in US sports there is a Harry Kane type figure struggling to tie his shoe laces up.
To suggest it's something to do with the standard of education in the states is laughable.
In my mind being able to come as being able to form a coherent sentence about you life experiences is no big achievement. Compare American sports people with Europeans who more often than not can speak English like a native. Anybody watch the episode of Question Time with Sebastian Vettel for example.

I clearly struggle with my sentences.

People on about things in America and what they have to do for sport, reading this I thought about this film I've seen at least twice!..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvqj_Tk_kuM

I think its a great film that if you've not seen, you should root for it, mind, I might have watched it because of Sandra!.

It said at the time a true story, and watching it it seems if you don't make the grade at school/collage than you don't get anywhere!..

For every Tyler Adams there's a hundred Hershel walkers. You're not watching close enough.

His réponse is calm, measured, intelligent.

What a star we have playing for our club. Well done to Jesse Marsch (and Victor Orta) for bringing him over from Germany. I think 24 mill will turn out to be supremely good business, not to mention the leadership he is bringing. Once Liam Cooper bows out, I can think of no better replacement, if we can hang on to him, of course.

Won't watch any the games but can't help following the results. Let's hope the US get knocked out sooner rather than later so Adams and Aaronson can get back intact.

Was thinking the same jaz. Want the Leeds lads to do well but lose and come home healthy.

Agree, Jazz, Tyler is so important for us. If he is injured for any length of time, I could see us sliding back into the relegation zone very quickly.

In other news, a rumor doing the rounds is Marsch is interested in the u.s. job for 2026.
Doesn't look likely though, he just said it would be fun.

Strange, the Guardian article seems to be under the delusion that he signed on a permanent deal in the summer.
